SOURCE: there is a rectangular black box across the screen

in the customer menu--find the closed caption settings---you will most likely find the set has been set to TEXT 1---with the remote select either CC1 or OFF---the black box was for text (books) and was not ever used much---usually someone engages it by accident

In the past, turning off and on would result in "blinking power light" situation. I would unplug for 10 minutes, and all would be well. But suddenlt, powering on just show a mess of RGB colors...

The tv board that call the HYPER board nown as the tv convergence board was dying and have problems, but the tv was still used able that why u able to unplug it awhile, replug it back and get it up and running. Now the tv HYPER board known as tv convergence board are totally dead, colors lines R,G,B mis alignments, have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures for a minute when the HYPER board was still functional for a little bit.Now the tv HYPER board getting no voltages at all, that why ur tv getting only a power LED indication light flashing only. The tv must get it tv HYPER board fixed also known as a tv convergence board. The tv HYPER boad must have it parts replace like 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too.To get the tv up and running again. The tvs shops will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.

The picture is all waves ,I get sound and color but the picture is all lines and waves, what part should I get??

To fix the shaky picture on the toshiba rear projection tv model number 42h83. You need to either replace the 13 capictors on the hyper module or simply replace the hyper module itself. It's cheaper to replace the caps, but you'll need decent soldering skills to do this. You can replace the entire hyper module with less soldering skills, but I believe the module costs about $100, maybe alittle more. You can find the entire fix by googleing "hyper module". Good luck and I hope this helps

When I first turn on my TV, I get horizonal faded lines

it probably has leaky capacitors in the hyper board or the video process board, this repair requires a qualified tv repairman, you can't do it yourself, alot of actual repairman can't handle this repair. it will get progressively worse as time goes on the more leaky the capacitors become.
