Danielo, How do I access the water valve and is this one like a washing machine would have, as I have changed these before. I did not mention before, but I did replace water filter a few days ago.( obviously not the problem).
    Thanks again., Phil

Daniel, Thanks for your response and video. I did take hair dryer to same for several minutes but still no ice.I will order the inlet valve. and try this solution.

    YES, THANK YOU

  • wglid3 Aug 10, 2011

ACTUALLY, HAVE NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRY THIS YET BUT IF ONE OF THESE IS NOT THE PROBLEM , IS IT POSSIBLE THE MODULES LOCATED WITHIN THE SIDES OF THE FREEZER ARE BAD. THIS THING HAS BEEN WORKED ON 2-3 TIMES ALREADY IN THE PAST FEW YEARS.

Hi

Please check the water inlet valve, it might be frozen or blocked with mineral deposit. Use a hair dryer to remove the blockage. Make sure the water inlet valve's screen is not blocked. If the issue persists, then the water inlet valve has gone bad, use a multimeter to test the water inlet valve's continuity. Use a multimeter to test the continuity. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Hello, One of the first things that you would check for is if your getting water to the ice tray itself if your not getting water then either the icemaker is not sending the signal to the water valve telling the water valve to send water up the tube located in the rear of the machine to the icemaker water tray. This is a diagram of the icemaker click this link http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/K0404023-00012.png
If you remove the front cover shown in the diagram as part 18 from the icemaker this would give you access to the piece termed as motor mold in which if you use a small flat head and gently nudge the front gear in a clockwise direction if the icemaker were working properly you would then see the gear time forward into its full revolution. At part number 27 you also have a thermostat which tells the icemaker when it is cold enough in which when it is it calls for water from the water valve located in the diagram as part number 10. On some other units there is a L and a V hold that you can use a jumper wire to connect these two points which will actuate the icemaker to call for water from the water valve. Also when fixing an icemaker if you do find that it is the icemaker that is the issue I have found that it is not only far easier to just replace the icemaker and order it as a whole part together rather then buying piece by piece for the icemaker which ends up costing you about 4 times the price of the actual icemaker. If your looking for a place to buy either the icemaker or the parts at a cheap price try this company out they are very good on there prices and seem to be alot cheaper then most http://www.allbrandonline.com/Default.aspx?Page=My%20Account%20Profile
if you have any further questions message me back Thanks
p.s which rubber tube were you refering to in your originial post? And if you find that the icemaker tray has froozen cubes that are stuck inside of it remove the entire icemaker and run it under hot water for 5 minutes this defrosts the icemaker and 50 percent of the time it does bring the unit back to life as well

I wouldnt be concerned about the control board you do have water inside the icemaker which means you do have power present at the connector to the icemaker you can also try removeing the icemaker and running it under hot water this acts as a defrost for the icemaker and 50 percent of the time this does bring the icemaker back to functional. Due to the presence of water being in the icetray it is getting power to tell the water valve to send the water to the icemaker itself so you can rule out the control board as an issue. Thanks Rick

My icemaker quit working. Water does not come in to fill the tray. Water source is turned on. In door water dispenser works fine. What should I do to troubleshoot? I don't hear the solenoid click in...

have you checked the inflow tube to see if it's iced up? if your icemaker isn't filling with water and your getting water in the dispenser your feeder tube is probably frozen

No water to icemaker. Water in door works well.

the water that enters the ice maker is controled by a thing called a solenoid valve (electricaly operated) the" water in door system" is a manual operated valve.. typicaly when the ejector rolls around to put the ice in the tray the solenoid opens lets water in then closes could be solenoid / wireing or controler
good luck

Icemaker not working- red light flashes constantly

The red light should flash twice , pause then flash twice constantly . If you close the flap on the left side , then the light should go off . This shows the optics (ice maker cut off ) are good .

Check the black tube ( fill tube ) , which puts water into the ice maker , to see if it is iced inside . If so , then the water valve behind the refrig is bad . It seeps into the tube and freezes , blocking the water flow .

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , then the water valve needs replaced . If it doesn't dump , and stays frozen in the ice maker , replace the ice maker . Also , make sure the coils under the front of the refrig are clean , as this will cause warmer temp in the freezer and the ice maker needs 5 degrees to operate .

Ice maker stopped working

The laser , is supposed to blink . This laser , tells the icemaker to stop making ice , when the bin is full . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump the cubes into the bin , the icemaker is bad . Or , if there is ice in the bin , which hasn't dumped , the icemaker is bad . If the icemaker dumps the ice ( from water pour ) , then look above the fill cup , and see if the black fill tube is frozen . If so , then replace the water valve and turn the freezer temp down slightly . It will take several days for this fill line inside freezer to thaw . If icemaker dumps , and black tube NOT frozen , replace the water valve . The valve , is where the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

Ice maker not producing any ice.

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into icemaker . Squeeze the black fill tub which is above the icemaker cup . If ice apears to be in it , this indicates that the weter valve is not completely closing , letting a drip ocasionally go thru and freezing inside the tube , ( water valve bad ) . that will be a different solution . If the icemaker dumps the cubes after freezing . and black tube is not frozen , replace the water inlet valve . If the icemaker does not dump the ice after frozen , replace the icemaker ( only 1 screw holds the icemaker in , located on rear portion on right , faceing down . Also check the icemaker rake , which should be about the 2:30 position . To thaw out the black tube (which runs thru the top of the refrig ) a 1/4 push on connector will be needed . Remove the icemaker and use a hairdryer aimed up into the hole . Cut the tubing to the fill tub behind the fridge about 9 inches from where it enters the top of the fridge . This will let warm air inside the top fill line to help thaw . Ocassionally blow thru the 9 inch tube until you can blow thru it . May take a day or 2 , depending how frozen the line is . Once air will go thru , install the push on connector to couple the cut lines back togather .

The blinking red light on the right side , is the receiver for the electric eye for cutting off the icemaker when the door bin is full , This blinking is normal . 2 blinks ...pause...2 blinks..etc .

Do not replace the filter if water flow is good thru the dispensor .

Kitchenaid Icemaker does nothing. Ref. Mod.kscs25Inssoo

This also happened after I changed the water filter. The small black rubber tube that fills the tray was plugged with ice. Instead of hot wash cloths I used a hair drier for a couple of minutes.

Stop working

Likely that the water supply tube to the icemaker is frozen. It will be a white rubber tube on the right side of the icemaker. Warm it with a hair dryer, remove it from its aluminum tubing, and make sure there is no ice all the way back to where the supply tube comes from the water valve. After thawing, your icemaker should start working again.

Now..... why did it freeze? Most likely, there is a restricted airflow to the back of the unit, which is need to keep that aluminum supply tube just warm enough to assure all the water flow OUT of it into the icemaker, and doesn't freeze up on contact. Make sure your coils and the airspace under the fridge are completely clean (vacuuum them well) and it should cure the problem.

My ice maker wont make ice the water is not going in the tray

First, make sure the arm on the ice maker not in the up (off) position.

Second, pull out the refrigerator from the wall and make sure there is no crimp in the line from the wall.

Third, check that ice is not frozen around the plastic teeth. Pull out the whole ice bucket and thoroughly check that something is not blocking or frozen in the wrong place.
This will get you started.

Ice Maker on/off switch has blinking red light, will not produce ice. Manual no help

When you open the freezer door the light should be blinking. When you hold the flipper door shut (on the left hand side) without blocking the beam, the light should stay on solid. If all of this happens then the optics are o.k. If optics are ok then you most likely have a broken motor module on the icemaker and should replace the icemaker thermostat along with it. A bad icemaker thermostat will lead to the module breaking. If you not sure how to replace these parts then I would just replace the whole icemaker. That would be easiest and usually not much more expensive.
