Polaroid 690 SLR-The switch between manual focus and auto focus, does not appear to operate normally. Maybe I do not know how to use it, however I cannot manual focus. Are you familiar with this camera and...

Not sure if this will help, but according to the manual, to use manual focus, push the button down until the red portion is visible, and turn the manual focus control dial until the image appears in focus in the viewfinder. Then, take the photo as normal. To return to autofocus, just return the switch to its normal position.

All the pictures are blurry the auto focus isn't working

You may have put the camera on manual focus. Two ways to do that.
1. There is a switch on the lens which allows you to select auto or manual focus. Be sure the switch is set on A or A/M. If it's on M, you are on manual focus.

2. In you menus, there might be a mode which is manual focus. Look in your manual index under Focus, manual. There might be a setting in the Focus Mode menu.

You can also try resetting your camera. This will put most things back to factory default mode, including the focus mode.

When playing around with controls, go step by step through the manual and try things out. Be sure to set the control you were playing with back to default unless you really understand that setting.

Is it possible to manually control the shutter speed, aperture, AND the focus on the Konica Minolta Maxxum 400si SLR 35mm film camera? I need to be able to manually control these features for a film class...

Yes. You have full control over the shutter speed and aperture in the Manual exposure mode, as described in the "M Mode: Manual Exposure" section in the manual.

You also have full control over the focus, as described in the "Manual Focus" section in the manual.

If you need a manual, you can download it (in two parts) from

Is it possible to manually control the focus on this camera? (Konica Minolta Maxxum 400si SLR 35mm Film Camera) I need to be able to manually control the focus, apeture, and shutter speed for a film...

The description of the manual focus is available in part 2 of the manual, page 40. The manual is available as a PDF here: http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/manuals/film-cameras/film_af_slr/index.html#si_series . It is the seventh camera in the SI series in the list.

To manually focus the lens, press the focus-mode button on the front of the camera (bottom left when you are behind the camera) until M. focus appears in the data panel. If you have an AF lens, turn the focusing ring until the subject appears sharp. If you have an xi-Series or AF Power Zoom lens, pull and turn the lens control ring.

The focus indicator will light when the subject is in focus. To return to autofocus mode, press the focus-mode button again. The camera will also return to the autofocus mode if you press the program reset button.

I hope this helps.

(in manual focus, you can take a picture even if the subject in the focus frame is not in focus. Often it means you need to take multiple pictures to get a good shot of the subject. The advantage is that you can get some interesting shots.)

The manual focus ring on my camera doesn't work. The ring turns but does not seem to adjust the focus. Automated focusing still works. How to fix it?

Two methods:-

1. Use the slider switch on the left of the camera to set it to MF (manual focus). The focus ring is an electronic one rather than a physical control like the zoom ring, so the response can seem slow.

2 Go into the camera menu and enable DMF (Direct Manual Focus). This allows you to override the autofocus simply by adjusting the focus control, but it does not work if the slider switch is set to the AF C setting (continuous autofocus), it only work in the AF-S (AF only activates once when the shutter is half pressed).

For electrical the focus, put on the screen a clear picture of your choice thru an input of the TV set from a DVD, then pause the playback of the DVD Look into each color and rock that color focus control back and forth (turn the control one way then the other way slowing down as the picture goes into the best focus. till the picture looks sharp do each color till they all look in focus. Can I manually control the zoom and focus?

Yes. Zoom can be controlled either by a variable speed rocker control, or a zoom ring on the lens. Focus is either automatic or manual via a focus ring.
