Thanks, for the help I have done the above stuff you spoke of but it did not work I finally undid the lock mecanisiom to get the door open but when I hit the bake button it says door

ngfam1 at your service.
Try turning the power off at the fuse or circuit box and then with it off open the door!
If no then turn the power on again and try to open the door!

There may be a section in the user guide too!
I am not there to give hands on diagnoses.

But I can give you a good service that is nation wide!

And have a reasonable service charge of $75 around our area

Remember though, if the unit is 10 years old or more it may not be advisable to put good money into bad!
New appliances are much more efficient and pay for them selves in only a few years!

Try putting it back in self clean. Listen to see if it locks. then cancel the self clean. It could be the self clean lock motor has gone bad. The lock hook can be moved to unlock the door by inserting a stiff wire like a coat hanger between the door and the oven and moving the latch over to unlock the door.

Used self cleaning process on my oven yesterday and today the oven will not turn on, we keep getting message to unlock the oven door even though it is. What can we do?

The oven gets extremely hot during the self-cleaning mode... the door switch might have got stuck in locked position, or broken in locked position (to be replaced), let's hope it's just stuck...which you'll need to work the mechanical lock-unlock latching back and forth to hopefully unstick....and if that doesn't work just re-run self-cleaning process but this time let the oven cool completely before unlocking the door. Hope this helps.

Hello,

IF you can locate the model number tag (bottom left of door opening) you can look up the manual at www.geappliances.com

The only button on your stove that should make the door lock would be the clean button (self clean model) if that is pressed simply hit the clear/off or cancel key and wait for the door to unlock.

IF the self clean option ran for an hour or so, you will have to wait for the oven to cool down before the lock can unlock (safety feature)

you may have a bad door lock . in this case replace. but first reinstall the door and run a new clean cycle and see if it unlocks .. mm

The switch inside the door lock mechanism is stuck down making the unit think it is still locked. the switched is located next to the hook that locks your door.
