I have a Lexmark X2690 that came with my PC (HP Pavilion Labtop) in July 2008. I hardly use it, but, when I do, I am always unable to print, most likely due to one or more of the following errors that I get:- 1) The button with the paper icon (and the down arrow) blinks red or orange. (To fix this, I try to make sure the paper is fed the right way in the holder.) 2) The two exclamation points (next to the power button) light up in an alternate pattern, and, again, the color is red or orange. Because the printer came with my computer, no instruction manual on how to use my printer was provided upon buying it. If you could please respond a.s.a.p., helping me with my printing problems, I would be most grateful. Thank you very much and take care. With best regards, Dave Chandra

The light indicates either a paper jam or a problem with your cartridges (probably due to low ink or faulty). To identify and fix this issue, please follow the steps below:

  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.
  2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.
  3. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.
  4. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.
  5. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.
  6. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power outlet to reset it.
  7. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.
  8. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.
  9. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
  10. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge.
  11. If there's no indication of any problem, try to print a document again.

Unable to print from lexmark x2690. printer is giving the error E C 1 on display.

EC1 error message indicates that your printer having trouble recognizing one of your cartridges. You could try to re-seat the cartridges in the printer. Remove and reinsert both cartridges. You may also wipe the cartridge nozzles with a damp paper towel to clean it from dirts and clogs. If error continues, check w/c cartridge is causing the error. Insert one cartridge first, then close the cover. If no error appears, then insert the other cartridge. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear.

Cartridge lexmark 15 is compatible with lexmark x2690?

No, a Lexmark # 15 is not compatible with the 2690.

The 2690 uses a #4 (Black) or #5 (Color). Also a # 4A (Black) and a #5A (Color). You can also use a #31 (Photo Print) cartridge.

Can not print a typed document from my Lexmark x2690

go to Lexmark.com click on support, enter model #, click on owners manual, scroll down to the picture that shows the lever that needs to be moved to letter.
There is installation software on the site you can download for free.
Most Lexmark printers lever is above and to the left of the paper tray

Internet printing issues

When you choose print, the print command window comes up.  At that point look for where it says "print pages" or something similar to that followed by input boxes where you can input pages 1 to 1 or 1 to 3, etc... It allows you to print only the pages you want.  Try to print pages 1 to 1.
Also, generally, some printers print the last page first, it may give you options to change that review the options in that same print window. You may want to uncheck collated box.
These are some suggestions that may help.  If push come to shove. Just go to the webpage...select all, copy and paste it into a word doc, and print there.
Or, just select the part you want to print, then follow the print commands where it say, print selection only.
whew... thats a lot of things to try. but I believe one or all of them may work.
let me know.

Lexmark x2690-Printer wouldn't print because supposedly had a paper jam. I turned it off and on to try to fix the problem because there was no visible jam. Now the printer won't turn on at all.
