Yes there a foundation repair solution that should repair it sufficiently. Check at Home Depot or Lowes. Any hardware store should be able to help you out.

SOURCE: I burned potato soup in my Le Creuset dutch oven.

Go buy a scraper for a ceramic hob and a can of barbeque or oven cleaner.

Spray the cleaner on and leave it for 15 minutes put on a pair of rubber gloves and use the scraper to break the surface of the burnt on stuff.

Make sure you keep the blade of the scraper as flat as possible to the surface of the pot.

Once you have scored some of the surface spry on some more cleaner and repeat the process

I clean off burnt casserole dishes using that method

In cooking a dutch oven is the original slow cooker. Usually made from cast iron, and can be used on top of a wood burning stove, in a wood burning fireplace, over a campfire, or with coal/charcoal. Some have domed lids, while others have a flat lid with a raised edge (aka flagged lid) which is idea for holding charcoal above the kettle. This allows for heat both above and below the dutch oven. These are generally available in stores such as Cabela's, BassPro and others.

What is a great casserole dish to invest in?

Well it all depends on how much you can spend and if you want to be able to use it on top of a stove burner as well as in an oven. If you don't have a lot to spend, then buy caserole dishes which don't have to work on a stove burner as well. You can always use pots instead. You want something that heats evenly with out burning. I like Corell ware as it is not too expensive. Get a set with at least a lasagna pan, a two quart and a three quart casserole. I would not get the clear glass dishes any more as I just had one break into three pieces on me as it was taken out of the fridge after defrosting. Dinner went on the floor along with the broken glass.
OR if you really want an investment peice, go to Homegoods and buy an imitation of the French dishes Le Creuset Le Creuset Stoneware Deep Covered Bake or buy a real Le Creuset at Williams Sonoma.

What is the best shape for a dutch oven?

The best kind of Dutch oven to invest in is one that is round and wide. It should have sides that are more straight than sloped. This is in order to have a lot of room for searing/browning. The oven should be 4 " deep.
Oval dutch ovens will cause the food at the ends of the oval to cook unevenly when searing. An oval oven is good for pot roasts and whole poultry.
