Maybe this FAQ will help ya? Problem: Camcorder will not connect to iMovie - No camera attached Possible Solutions: * Are you using a 4 to 6 pin firewire cable? That is the ONLY thing you can use. No USB cables or anything else * Are you using a compatible camera? Still cameras that take movies are NOT a DV camera * How new is the cable? If it is pretty old or you have kinked, it you may need another one * Is the camera in DV mode? It should be. (Usually in the menu options somewhere) * Have read ALL of Apples help topics on this If your good with all the above: 1. Close iMovie 2. Delete all iMovie plist files for iMovie located in Home/Library/Preferences 3. Plug the camera in to the wall (electricity) 4. Make sure you have a good firewire cable and plug it in to the Mac from the camera 5. Turn off your camera 6. Reset your pram 7. When the Mac is booting, power on the camera 8. Start iMovie Sony camcorder special fixs: 1. Turn your camcorder to Play mode. 2. Press menu button (or relevant touch-screen button) 3. Click the 'ETC' item and then to CONTROL. 4. Select i-link (and not IR). or 1. Turn your camcorder to Play mode. 2. Press the Menu button (or relevant touch-screen button) 3. Scroll down the Menu to the 'ETC' option, if there is one 4. Click the 'ETC' item and choose 'VIDEO EDIT' if it's there 5. Click 'VIDEO EDIT' and 'MARK 1 IN' may appear 6. Click on 'MARK 1 IN' and then exit from the Menu options, by pressing the Menu button again Your Sony cam should now work OK with iMovie. * Reason? The camera and Mac can't decide which device is giving the FireWire instructions, and which is supposed to be receiving and acting on them. Using this sequence (above) lets the camera receive instructions from iMovie.

Sony dcr hc32 lcd touch screen issue. The touch screen does not respond. Do you know about a techinician who can repair it near Princeton NJ

The LCD / Touchscreen module is no longer available from Sony for this Model. However, I have a limited supply of them as well as an aftermarket supplier.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

I need to know how to download from the tape onto my mac computer

To do this you will need to use the firewire connection, so you will need to get yourself a firewire cable, the camera has a 4 pin socket your Mac might use either the 4 pin, possible the 6 pin or maybe if it is a new one the new firewire 800 socket. You will have to check your machine for this.
Once connected you can use iMovie to stream the video onto your mac
