Need help with moving pictures from internal Kodak Z740 to SD card

Hi.

You will need to use a computer, there is no option for direct transfer from internal memory to SD card.

Remove the SD card from inside the camera and connect the camera to the computer using an USB cable. With no SD card the computer will show the pictures stored in camera's internal memory. Copy the pictures in the internal memory in computer hard disk, then eventually move them onto the SD card.

Regards.

I took pictures on my camera without a memory card can i still download my pictures

I'm glad to provide the steps to transfer images from Internal Memory of the Camera. When the camera does not have a memory card in it, the images are saved by default to the camera's internal memory, which holds different amounts of images based on how many megapixels are built into the internal memory and what image quality and compression are selected in the camera's menu. Once a memory\picture card is inserted in the camera, the camera then saves the photos to the memory\picture card and ignores the internal memory.

There are two ways to transfer the images from the internal memory.

  • To transfer photos to a computer from the internal memory using the USB cable, first remove the memory card from the camera. Then, when the camera is connected, the computer and software will only see what is in the internal memory and transfer those photos or videos. During the transfer process, the computer makes copies of the photos and videos-the original images remain in the internal memory. After the transfer is complete and the camera is safely disconnected from the computer, the contents of the internal memory can be deleted by using the MEMORY FORMAT function in the SETUP menu in the camera's menus.

  • The other way to transfer photos from the internal memory is to transfer them to the memory\picture card using the BACKUP function in the SETUP menu. If there is no memory\picture card in the camera, the BACKUP function is grayed-out. During BACKUP, copies of the images are transferred to the memory\picture card-the original images remain in the internal memory. After the BACKUP is complete, the internal memory can be cleared by removing the memory\picture card and formatting the internal memory using the MEMORY FORMAT function in the SETUP menu in the camera's menus.

Note: When the camera is connected to a computer using the USB cable with a memory\picture card in the memory\picture card slot, the computer will only see the contents of the memory\picture card.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any additional help.

After I shoot a picture the camera freezes up. I have to power off and up a couple of times to get it back to shoot mode. It does not store the image when it freezes up.

Can you power up the camera don't take a picture but move around the functions and view pictures on the LCD screen? If the camera does all the functions it's suppose to except hold a picture then I'd say the memory is at question. You might not have a memory card installed in the camera and it's working on the Internal Memory which is now full or not able to load another picture. If there is a memory card in the camera it might have the protection switch in the lock position which then would shift the picture storage to the internal memory. You need to check to see if there is a memory card in the camera if so make sure this card is in the unlock position. If the images are on the internal memory then you need to transfer the internal memory pictures to the memory card for download to the PC. Make sure the memory card is unlocked and formatted to the camera after you download the pictures to the PC

How to copy pictures from internal memory to memory cards

I don't know if there is a function to do this on your camera, but on the cameras I am familiar with, there is not.

However, if what you want to accomplish is to get your pictures from internal memory into your computer, there is a way. Simply remove the memory card from your camera before connecting the camera to your computer. The computer will then see the camera's internal memory instead of the card memory, and you can copy the pictures over.

If you have been accessing your pictures by removing the card from the camera and placing it in a card reader attached to your computer, then this won't work for pictures in the internal memory. You will need to use the other method, connecting the camera to the computer with the USB lead.

I uploaded my pictures from my memory card onto the computer. When I put the card back into my camera, the camera won't read the memory card and it says the internal memory is full (12 pictures). How do...

If you indeed have the pictures on your computer (and are safely stored)... you might try selecting the format memory card function in the camera, to reformat the card, in case it was somehow corrupted while connected to the computer.

Internal memory to memory card

Generally, it's not possible to move images from internal memory to a memory card, which poses a problem because you can't connect that camera to your computer.

Most digital cameras keep the internal memory separate from the memory card. Not sure why, but they do.

It's unlikely that you'll be able to get those photos off, if the camera isn't recognized by the computer.

xD-Picture Card (16MB – 1GB)
There are two ways to record the pictures you take with this camera.
Recording pictures to the internal memory
• Pictures are recorded to the internal memory, and when the number of storable still
pictures reaches 0, you must connect the camera to a computer to download the
pictures, and then erase the pictures from the internal memory.
Using an xD-Picture Card (optional)
• Pictures are recorded to the card when inserted in the camera. When the card is
full, you download the pictures to a computer, and then either erase the pictures
from the card or use a new card.
• Pictures are not recorded to the internal memory when a card is inserted in the
camera. Pictures in the internal memory can be copied to the card using the
[BACKUP] function.
