No power to motor. Found that when recoil white wheel pulss away fro edge of cleaner it opens continuity

The motor brushes are bad. If you continue to use unit it will damage the armature which is very bad.

Its also routinely a loose battery connection. If you turn on the unit and just giggle the battery unit below and it shuts off, then you have this problem. I fixed mine by gently pushing the main battery posts (on the motor unit side) apart a bit to give it a more solid contact with the battery contacts. Also on both the motor unit and battery ends they have 3 contact points as well. Not sure what these are for, but i scraped both ends of the 3 contact slides to ensure no corrosion was affecting electrical transfer. So far it runs flawlessly again.

Open the right side of the vacuum with a hex head screw driver. There are 4 screws. Inside you will find a circuit board.
1. Make sure the varistor (S20K150) is not blown, these models seem to have an issue with this. It is a flat blue "quarter" looking component near the top edge of the circuit board.
2. At the bottom of the circuit board are two white wires connected via push on connectors. Remove these from the circuit board by sliding them away from the circuit board. Power on the vacuum and engage the drive button. If the lower motor still does not engage check step 3.
3. A blue and yellow wire runs off the bottom end of the circuit board. These are the wires powering the lower motor. Check continuity with a multimeter and make sure they are not broken. I have seen where these wires will break as they run through the housing of the vacuum. If they are broken, replace them with any wire of the same gauge.

Opened up case as follows:
- Open lid of bag chamber. Remove lid by gentry prising the hinge arms slightly further apart so the hing unclips from the body.
2 deeply recessed screws now accessible at rear edge of bag chamber - undo.
Prise out large button of on/off switch to reveal another screw - undo
Prise out large button of cable retract to reveal another screw - undo.
Cover now lifts off.

Inside I found the brake wheel had fallen out of its plastic bracket. The plastic bracket is hinged, and moved my pressing one end with the big button, which lifts the wheel away from the cable drum. Gently prised the bracket arms apart and put the brake wheel back in.
Solved it - but don't know why it happened, or whether it is likely to happen again.

They go in the slot beside the right wheel. Metal spring first, (the open ends facing away from front of vacuum base. The white nylon piece lays parallel and directly on top of the metal spring, round edge up, and aligned with the open ends of the metal springs.

Just had the same problem. Switches and motor checked ok, then found the circuit board on the left hand side of cleaner. The fuse (on the board) looked ok, but when removed and checked for continuity I found it had blown. The problem I have now found is that the fuse cannot be ordered only the complete board. Hope it gets the brush roller going again.
