My Lexmark X6170 does not recognize new color cartridge (83)

it has to be a lexmark ink cartridge,if not take it back to store,if it is refilled,then it needs to be reset by the filler

Lexmark X6170 uses these two ink cartridges: -
Black Print Cartridge (18L0032E)
Colour Print Cartridge (18LX042E)
It is highly recommended that you use the original cartridges as the cartridges and ink vary from printer to printer.
However, if you are unable to find the cartridges, you may look for refilling option.

Mp 180 ink cartriges cannot be recognized

COULD BE COLOR CARTRIDGE IS DRY ! have it check to an OFFICE MAX or WALGREENS

Try cleaning the contacts on both the ink cartridge and the carriage with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. It that doesn't work, replace the ink cartridge.

I am going to assume that it is a X83.

The ultimate permanent fix for the x6170 printer would be to purchase new cartridge snap-down levers (the levers that snap down inside the dell printer to hold the cartridges, blue for color and black for black). If you purchase snap down levers for a Lexmark printer series X5100 or X6100 or Z55 or Z65, the little guide peg inside the snap lever would work with an unmodified 83 and 82 Lexmark cartridge. All Lexmark did for Dell to make the Dell unique, was to put special Dell snap levers on the printer. I considered breaking off the little guide peg on the snap lever, but decided against it as it appears to help hold the cartridge in alignment

Hi Marty, naughty printer. It is not reading your new cartridge. Clean your printer with own program and if this faild do it youself with cotton tips and proper cleaning solution. Try printing now. Dn't forget to reset ink and cartridge settings for new ones. cheers lilac gerry xxx
