I purchased a electric lionel train set from an individual and it did not come with instructions on how to put it together. Is there some way I can get an instruction manual for it? He said he purchased it about 1990. There is the number 8633 on the side of the locomotive conductors car. I think that is what you call the first car in the train. Please help my 6 year old would really like to play with it.

The train keeps jumping off the track
Is the track properly and carefully put together? Is one or more sections damaged take one of the cars and gently push it around watching in those places where the train derails. If it only happens at a track joint look at it more carefully.

Is lionel 40 watt transformer from toy train enough power to run a dual motor larger train engine it just lites up and sputters
It would depend on what engine you're trying to run. The 40 watt transformer's circuit breaker will trip off if you put too large of an electrical load on it. If the engine light stays on while it sputters, the track or the engine's motor and electrical pick-ups may need cleaning. Older engines that haven't been run for a while can get stiff. Your engine may need some lubrication.
