Thomson RR520U Alarm Clock

I am hunting for the manual for my alarm clock which I have had for over 6 years but we had a major power out on Sunday morning and I now cannot reset the clock! I've hunted through the attic for the manual but no success. Can you advise where I can find one please? Other links via this web site do not work.

cheers

Hi, Same here but I DO have the manual. Still took a lot of working out tho. Make sure you have decent batteries installed (Should be changed every year) so that the time will remain next power out.
If you send me your Email address I'll copy the relevent page for you. To rizla01 - at - yahoo.com

I have Westclox Atomic Clock, Model # 70026. I have lost the instructional manual. I only activate the alarm for 6:00 AM on Sunday, then I silence the alarm by pressing the Alarm on/off button. But...

Greetings.

According to the product manual, press the 'ALARM ON/OFF' button on the back of the clock until the bell symbol and 'Zz' disappear from the display screen. These symbols are between the hour and minute digiits, above the colon ( : ).

If you would like to see the instructions, they are in .jpg format:

Front page of instructions:

Back page of instructions:

You might want to save these images on your computer in case the webpage is no longer available.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

Directions for Resetting the Daylight Savings Time (DST) Start & End Dates on the Emerson Research Smartset Dual Alarm Clock Radio on CKS1850

Unfortunately, you can't reset the firmware of the clock for those built before Jan 2006; you can work-around the issue. You will need to change time zones for the few weeks between the current daylight savings start and end dates and the ones that were built into the clock. For details see: http://www.emersonradio.com/dst.htm ; click on the link for Group 1.

If the unit was built before Jan 2006 (the serial number will start with a value less than 6), switch the time zone to the next one further east on the second Sunday of March, then set it back to your correct time zone on the first Sunday of April. Repeat this on the last Sunday of October and the first Sunday of November. (If you are in the Eastern time zone (zone 2), set the switch to zone 1.)

If the unit was built between Jan 2006 and July 2006 (serial numbers that start 601 to 606), then you can change the start and end dates for DST. See: http://www.emersonradio.com/dst.htm then choose the Group 2 link. Press and hold the Alarm 1 button then press the Month/Date or Calendar button. After three seconds the unit will display the start date for daylight savings. Press and hold the Alarm 1 and Month/Date or Calendar buttons. When the display is flashng (within 5 seconds from the press and hold step), press the Down or Set button (depending on the SmartSet mode) three times until the display reads 3 and F2 (alternating with the date of that Sunday).

For the end date, press and hold Alarm 2 then press the Month/Date or Calendar button. Then press and hold Alarm 1 and the Month/Date or Calendar button. Again within 5 seconds, press the Up button or Set until the display shows 11 and F.

If the display stops flashing, repeat and set the new dates faster.

You'll have to repeat this is the battery is removed or replaced.

I hope this helps.

Daylight savings time adjustment

Go to:
http://www.emersonelectronics.ca/emerson/en/product/details/VLJT600
or
http://www.emersonelectronics.ca/emerson/en/category/list/694

The solution appears to be common for all recent Emerson SmartSet(tm) radios (BTW it's not the clock fault, it's the law).

Remarkably Emerson foresaw this, so here we go.

Short version (may require three hands :-) )

DST start:
Press and hold MONTH/DATE and ALARM 1 buttons for at least 3 seconds until the display changes to something like "4 F" (Fourth month, First week) alternating with something like "4. 1" (April 1st, for 2007) or "4. 6" (April 6th, for 2008). While holding down the MONTH/DATE and ALARM 1 buttons, now press the DOWN or "-" Set button (3 times) until "3F2" shows (Third month, second week) alternating with something like "3.11) (March 11th, for 2007) or "3. 9" (March 9th, for 2008). Let go of all buttons and we are now half done.

DST end:
Press and hold MONTH/DATE and ALARM 2 buttons for at least 3 seconds until the display changes to something like "10 L" (Tenth month, Last week) alternating with something like "10.28" (October 28th, for 2007) or "10.26" (October 26th, for 2008). While holding down the MONTH/DATE and ALARM 2 buttons, now press the UP or "+" Set button (1 time) until "11 F" shows (Eleventh month, first week) alternating with something like "11. 4" (November 4th, for 2007) or "11. 2" (November 2nd, for 2008). Let go of all buttons and we are now done.

This should remain until either the lithium battery fails or Congress undoes its work.

BTW the Emerson addendum has a history error. The time change in the first Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October did not start in 1966, but in 1987. Before that starting in 1966 the standard was set at the last Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October. Except for 1974, when it was January 6th, 1974 (DST start) and October 27th, 1974 (DST end) and in 1975 when it was February 23rd, 1975 (DST start) and October 26th, 1975 (DST end). Before 1966, state and local governments had many different rules. Source: http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/e.html

I can't set the clock

I had the same problem. Looked here for help and found no solution, so dug through the attic till I found the manual. Thankfully I had kept the box. Here's the instructions from the manual:

Setting the Time
  1. Press the SET button, the ":" will flash on the display.
  2. Press REV or FWD to set the time.
  3. AM or PM icon will show beside the time.
TIP: No icon will be flashing if all selectors are set, if you see any icon flashing on display, press the SET button repeatedly to confirm everything is set correctly.
