Probably the scanner can't determine his position because of a "dirty" scannerglass. How you can clean the glass is explained on te hp site.

I had a same problem. Did remove all the screws, from the back than top than side. Got to the part where the noise came from. there is a white sponge for the unwanted ink. I found that blocking the axle for ink rack. Removed it. Since that no rattle noise.

I ask for a answer to why i dont have sound on my computer ,if i listen to a audio tape or music or play a game i have no sound.i went in my panel box but my volume control wont move.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
you might have to uninstall then reinstall both the sound drivers and the sound card make sure you have both of these devices backed up to a disc before uninstalling
a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver to do this
right click to install driver also
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have made the correct adjustments there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can make adjustments there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar
also
click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to repair any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive or
control panel administrive tools, computer management ,disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now, start should schedule this task when restart

Fi-6140-Rollers keeps moving even when doc feeder is empty.

There may be a piece of paper stuck in the sensor area, the scanner assumes there is paper and it keeps working. Blow gently and remove all shreds of paper.

Hp 6110 scanner making noise i can do any thing else because of that scanner light doesn't move, move little on scanner glass then come back on right hand side and keep making noise some time i can see...

If you cleaned the scanner glass before the problem began, it sounds like you messed up the homing strip underneath the glass. The scanner is trying and trying to find its home position and it can't. There is no way to disable the scanner to use the other functions. This is the downside to All-in-One machines. If one function (most commonly the scanner) stops working the entire machine won't work. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I always caution people against buying all-in-one machines for this reason. It sounds like you'll need to buy a new printer, unless your printer is magically still under warranty you could call HP and ask what they can do for you. They'll probably just recommend you buy a new machine anyway.

Unit makes a clicking sound at end of the power-up sequence

Sounds like the scanning mirror might be locked - during shipping, the mirror is locked to prevent damage. Look around the back or the underside of the unit and look for a slider with a lock/unlock picture on it. Slide it to unlock and the mirror should be free to move.

Epson Stylus NX105 scanner started clicking when turned on...

I dismantled the printer because i've been having the same issue. It recedes to the right and begins clicking because it is at the end of the track. For some reason the scanner isn't registering that it is at the end of the track and keeps persisting making the gears jam up on the other end because they obviously can't move any further. Any suggestions as to how to fix, or master reset?

Making a loud noise when the paper is feeding.

This is what the HP website says about noises in the 1610..
Unexpected Noises s.gif s.gif
Issue Unexpected noise (clicking, thumping, grinding, squealing, and so forth) from an HP all-in-one can be caused by a problem with the ink carriage or the scanner. Solution Follow the steps below in the order presented to determine the source and resolution for the noise. Step one: Checking the scanner This step applies only to products equipped with a flatbed scanner.
  1. Open the scanner cover.
  2. With the lid open, press the Start Copy button to make a copy. The scanner mechanism should move down the glass.
  3. If the scanner mechanism does not move and noise is present, contact HP. If the scanner mechanism moves without noise, continue with Step two below.
Step two: Checking for paper feed problems and carriage blocks Click here (buu03110) (in English) for more information on paper or carriage jams. Step three: Service the product If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product. So it sounds like it needs to be serviced which could get expensive. I've looked all over the web for you & Keep finding the same answer. Sorry I can't come up with a better solution for you.

Scanner error message hp laserjet 3030

This problem has to do with the scanner mirror. You may hear a grinding sound, also. The reason it does this is because the scanner bulb cannot find 'home', so it keeps trying to find it. Well, it uses the mirrors to reflect on another object inside the scanner to tell it when to stop. The mirror on top of the right next to the scanner bulb may need to be cleaned. This works every time for me, except the same problem always comes back sooner or later.
how to clean-
1.unplug your scanner
2.notice the glass covering on the left side, it can be removed with a Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew the plastic surrounding the glass and then remove the glass covering.
3.Plug the scanner back in and wait for the scanner to move left and then unplug it before it starts moving to the right. Repeat this until scanner bulb is all the way on the left of the machine.
-an alternative method-
with the glass covering removed, use a pair of pliers to move the small belt that moves the scanner bulb. keep moving it until the scanner bulb is all the way on the left of the machine.
4.With the scanner bulb assembly in reach, grab a Q-tip and gently clean the mirror that is just to the right of the bulb. You might want a flashlight to see the dirt and dust.
5. Put the glass covering back on.
6. Plug in the scanner.
At first to me it seemed like it wouldn't work, but it does.
Hope it helps. Reply back if it does.

My printer will not print. It is a Hewlett-Packard all in one psc 2175v model, it just comes on and makes a clicking sound and then it reads, scanner failure and recommends that I turn it off and then on...

On some models there is a scanner head lock to keep the scanner head from moving around and breaking when transporting. Check to make sure it's not in the lock mode.

Problem with new set

Sounds like the lock-switch is in the locked position. This is on the bottom of the scanner. Move the lock-switch back and forth a few times and then leave it in the unlock posotion. Try scanning again.

If you are scanning a book, it may be too heavy and putting enough pressure on the scanner that it is preventing the scan head from moving fully. Try scanning with nothing on the glass to see if it does the same thing.
