Makes a clicking sound scanner keeps moving to the right
Probably the scanner can't determine his position because of a "dirty" scannerglass. How you can clean the glass is explained on te hp site.

I had a same problem. Did remove all the screws, from the back than top than side. Got to the part where the noise came from. there is a white sponge for the unwanted ink. I found that blocking the axle for ink rack. Removed it. Since that no rattle noise.
And i cleaned the scannerglass, but it didn't work it still say's scannerdefect

I have the same problem. It is a clicking sound and then it says scanning failure.??? CVan somebody help? I had this problem twice...but it worked after 2 days again ...but now it sucks since over a week ...I´d appreciate any help ! Thanks ! ...JESSE
trying to print from a document or copy printer will start to initialize, display warming up, then display scanner failure. Can hear a fant rythmic sound when printer is turned on. Has been doing this for the last few weeks. Sometimes it will work sometimes not.
it says it wont scan and tells me to restart printer. i do this and its the same thing over and over. i'm not trying to scan! i turned the printer off the first time because it kept telling me i had narrow paper in when it had the SAME paper as always. after turning it back on it started with the train noises! its about to hit the landfil!
After restart its rattle as a train!
Yeah it clicks and on the printer screen it told me to throw it away and get a new one, wth?
