3. Open thermal protector or thermal fuse.
4. Defective controller or its power supply.
5. Clock needs to be set before other functions will operate (some models).

Sharp Carousel Model R-209KK-W is flashing all 8's and keypad not working

The first thing to try is to do a hard reset.

Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

If it still doesn't work, it may need repair, which can be done for $39.95 in most cases.

Sharp r-610dk microwave runs but don't heat up

The magnetron has failed, or the inverter board, "if 7 years old or less" there is also a possibility the keypad control board may be the problem.

Sharp Carousel Microwave - R1481 keypad doesn't work

No! I'am afraid not, the problem is in the keypad control board, the whole assembly must be replaced, the part alone will cost around $100.00 or more depending on make and model.

I need to replace the monitor switch on my Sharp R-9H66, I'm not a 100% sure which switch it is. The diagram on the microwave shows it in the middle but the part that is being sent to me looks a little...

This model is obsolete, so information is hard to find.

Until the keypad (which is no longer available) finally fails, though, it's worth replacing other parts.

These were great old units.

The monitor switch will usually be in the middle near the fuse.

Assuming there is not a lever on your monitor switch, a universal type will do.

If there's a lever, you may need to break the old switch apart and move the lever to the new switch. See this video for instructions.

How to replace the front buttons?

Most microwaves use a membrane type keypad that is glued to the front panel..they can be expensive though, but aren't too hard to replace...it involves removing the cover...unplugging the keypad ribbon cable...removing the old keypad...and reinstalling the new keypad

My brand new sharp carousel microwave has a peeling, bubbling touchpad. Can I buy a new film and fix it myself? Why did it peel?

First of all is it really the membrane keypad itself, or just the clear protective sheet over the keypad which you're supposed to remove when it's new?

Keypad trouble can be serious, so until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

If it's really the keypad and less than one year old, it would be fully covered under warranty as long as it's not been damaged by outside forces. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

You can contact Sharp at 1-800-BE-SHARP (1-800-237-4277) or visit them online.

If it's out of warranty, or
if you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can order parts from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

Tricky touch pad on Sharp R530 es microwave oven

There are two options here:

1. Order a new control panel frame which has the keypad, trim piece and door button already installed and swap your control boards into it.

The original part number FPNLCB346MRK0 has been replaced by part # FPNLCB346MRK0B and it runs $58.28 plus shipping.

2. Disassemble your control panel frame, peel off the old keypad and stick a new one on.

Even though the keypad alone runs only $35.66, this job takes a lot of time and labor.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace just the keypad yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

Whichever option you choose, we have the service manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here to help you.

You will need the
free Acrobat Reader to view or print it in case you don't have it already.

Jenn-Air Microwave M169B 11 years old.

You should be able to get a replacement keypad, and that's not a hard job for a DIYer.

If you're interested, post your correct brand and model and I'll give you a more specific suggestion.

(Your post subject says Jenn-Air M169B put it's posted under Sharp R-316FS so I'm not sure which you have).

If it's a Jenn-Air, you can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

You can usually find Sharp exploded views by entering your FULL model number here: http://www3.sears.com (the 3 is correct)

You can order Sharp parts from there or from Tritronics at http://www.wehaveparts.com

Microwave oven defective keypad

Sorry, but that makes it unrepairable.

It may be possible that your insurance company may cover part of the replacement cost if you had flood insurance.
