Question about 3Com NBX 3102 IP Phone

In NBX 100 3COM phone system cannot take calls from out side as user busy signal comes. There are 10 channels. but none of them are busy. When checking the cause code the 17 code is visible. This happened after a power failure. can take internal calls using extensions.rebooted the system but it didnt help. Please help to fix the issue.

I know this is old but maybe it can help someone else.
The line cards are "hot swappable and don't always reset with a reboot (especially a Digital Line card) you should try to re-seat the Line card after the system has booted up. This is done by unscrewing the black knobs at each end and then sliding the card out about an inch. Wait about 10 seconds and plug it back in. It takes about 2 minutes for the card to boot and synch with the phone company. Try your call again. If it's still not working after about 5 minutes, check the card in the phone system and make sure the channels are idle. If they are, call the phone company.

Since the 3cx softphone worked well, I don't see why you couldn't configure each as for 3cx and make them work as well.

There isn't any configuration needed on the Phone system or the phone to make this work. The light must simply have burned out. This would require a new phone to work (unless you know how to solder). f it's under warranty then you can get it replaced for free (1yr). you can also map a button on the right to light up/access the same mail box as a work around.

Yes, you can call forward a number of ways with the NBX. You can do it from each extention or from a hunt group off of the Auto Attendant. The only thing you need to worry about is that for every call that is being forwarded it uses two phone lines. The line coming in and the one the system uses to call your cell phone. if you don't get a lot of calls or if you have more than a couple of lines, then you're good.

This is a phone company recording and is normal for a call that can't complete. It has nothing to do with the phone system.

Yes, press the feature button and then enter 889. This will restrict the NBX system from sending out your Caller ID information for all calls. You will have to disable this by doing the same thing if you want to get your outbound caller ID back. Feature 890 will restrict the NBX system from sending out your Caller ID information for this call only.

At Two scenarios it will be happening.
1. When your phones act as a intercom.
2. When your server settings are enabled with auto-answer option.

Check with server admin.

We have a 3Com NBX V3000. The building our office


This was a rather simple fix. When I was speaking about the NBX V3000, I was talking about our 2U NBX Chassis which holds the line card. When our phone system was installed I wasn't shown the 1U NBX V3000 "Brain". I thought everything was contained in the chassis. Long story, short, I restarted the 1U "Brain" and the system came back up with 5 minutes.

This sounds like you have a phantom user as a member of your incoming hunt group. Meaning you have a user extesion without a phone associated to it (just a mailbox). Check your hunt groups and make sure there aren't any phantom users in them. If so, remove them and this will stop happening.

Are you trying to forward calls in circular from 1 extension to the next. Like 101 to 102 back to 101. If not I would purge the database and start over. Export user data so you can see the Mac address of each phone and it will be easy to reconfigure the extensions. Do not import the Data. Start from scratch.

Delete the MAc Address from the system and delete the user account. Re add the phone.
