Question about Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC

1 Answer

Program Buttons If I push a program button when the X5 is 'off' (in standby mode) it will come alive but will not launch the linked application - that requires pushing it a second time to launch the app after the unit is on. Anyone else notice this? It should turn the X5 on AND launch the app with one push.

Dv4 1125nr remote control driver

I think the remote control is part of HP's Quick Launch product and the driver can be found under Mouse/Touchpad and Input Devices. Look for the Quick Launch or Quick Play which controls the Media devices such as the DvD/CD, etc.

In the excerpt below they reference the remote as the external easy access keyboard (I think). I got this off my daughter's HP which has a remote.

This package contains software that enables customers to program the Quick Launch Buttons on the keyboard and the external Easy Access Buttons Keyboard for the supported notebook models and operating systems. This application enables menu control of various buttons such as volume, internal/external display, and mute on/off.

When I push the SCAN button I get a message that asks me to 'specify the program where the scanned image is transferred'

You need to set up the destinations in the Canon software. First launch the Canon Scan-Gear Toolbox. The Scan button on the scanner is the same as Scan-1 button by default but no software is linked to this button. Click on the Scan-1 button then choose Set. Then set your application that you will want to work on the scanned image. Select your application (Photoshop Elements, for example) - the exe file if using Windows. (You may need to browse the Program Files folder and then the individual application folder (C:\Program Files in recent versions).) Then click Open and then Apply to confirm this. You can also select the file type that you want the scans to be saved as in this settings window.

If you want to change the scan destinations, then click on Settings (on the far right). You will see the drop-down menus for each of the scanner buttons. Select the desired function for the scan button and click OK. (Scan-1, Scan-2 and Scan-3 can be linked to other software.)

I hope this helps.

Can I run Printmaster Platinum 16 with windows vista

Yes you can !!!

The Windows® Vista2_bing.gif Program Compatibility Wizard can allow older programs that were not designed for use with Windows® Vista to run on Windows® Vista.

The Program Compatibility Wizard prompts you to test the program in different modes (environments) and with various settings. For example, if the program was originally designed to run on Windows® XP2_bing.gif, set the compatibility mode to Windows® XP and try running the program again. If successful, the program will start in that mode each time. The wizard also allows the use of different settings, such as switching the display to 256 colors and the screen resolution to 640 x 480 pixels.

To run the Program Compatibility Wizard, complete the steps below:

  1. Close all programs and windows and return to the desktop.
  2. Click the Start button on the Windows® taskbar. The Start Menu will appear.
  3. Click on Control Panel. The Control Panel window will appear.
  4. Click on Programs. Additional program options will display.
  5. In the Programs and Features section click the link Use An Older Program With This Version of Windows. The Program Compatibility Wizard will launch.
  6. Click Next to Continue.
  7. Click the “I want to choose from a list of programs” radio2_bing.gif button and click Next. A list of programs will display.
  8. Select the program that is to run in a Compatibility Mode and click Next to continue. A list of Compatibility Modes will display.
  9. Click the radio button next to the desired Compatibility Mode and click Next. A list of display settings will display.

NOTE: These display settings are not available options in Windows® Vista. They are only available when running a program in Program Compatibility Mode. The only reason to choose either of these settings is if you are experiencing difficulty installing or running an older application designed to run in Windows® 95, Windows® ME or Windows® 98. If all options remain unchecked, then the current Colors and Screen Resolution settings will not be altered.

By default, Windows® Vista uses visual themes that may change the appearance or behavior of other programs, especially those games or educational programs that include intensive graphics and animation. To prevent the visual themes from affecting these programs, check Disable Visual Themes.

  10. Choose the desired display settings and click Next to continue. Administrator privilege options will display.
  11. Choose the desired administrator privilege setting and click Next to continue. A Test Your Compatibility Settings window will display.
  12. Verify that the settings are correct. And click Next to continue.

NOTE: If the settings are not correct, click the Back button to return to the previous screen (or screens) and make the necessary changes.

  13. With the correct settings selected and showing in the "Test Your Compatibility Settings" window, click Next. The selected program will launch.
  14. Run the program to test the settings.
  15. After testing the settings, or close the program to return to the Program Compatibility Wizard.

NOTE: After the program is closed, a window with the question "Did the program work correctly?" will appear. The "Yes. Set this program to always use these compatibility settings" will be selected.

  16. If the program functioned properly using the compatibility mode that was selected above click Next. The Program Compatibility Data window will open.

NOTE: If the program did not function correctly, click "No, try different compatibility settings" and complete the Wizard. After completing the wizard, try the program again.

  17. Choose Yes or Now and click Next to continue. The Completing the Program Compatibility Wizard window will appear. Click Finish to close the window.
  18. Launch and use the program.
NOTE: If you have questions regarding the Program Compatibility Wizard or Windows® Vista (or both), contact Microsoft®, or go to http://www.microsoft.com for additional information

CineDashMediaConsole.volume not working.

Cinedash FIX for Windows 7
This works to fix the CineDash Media Console!
I had the same problem with my Aspire 8920G
Now it works fine.
Getting the CineDash Media Console and Launch Buttons working
If you have problems with either the CineDash Media Console or Launch buttons then you will be happy to hear that the solution for fixing these is easy!
The first thing that you will need to do is install the “Launch Manager” which can be downloaded off the Acer website. Go to http://www.acer.com and click the service support, then driver download. Go to your model. Download the Launch Manager on the acer site. The filename should be “Kilimanjaro_v2.0.00_Vistax32×64_XPx32×64.zip” the version of Launch Manager under the Windows Vista operating system .This will get the Email, Web and Empowering Technology buttons working with their default settings. If you need to change what the buttons do, you can launch the application named “Launch Manager” in the start menu.
Uninstall any previous version of Launch Manager
The solution to my problem was to get the Launch Manager to run in compatibility mode for Windows Vista Service Pack 2.
Unzip. Explore the new folder and right-click Setup.exe.
To do this go to the Launch Manager Install directory (C:\Program Files\Launch Manager ), right-click on “setup.exe”, select the “troubleshoot compatibility” tab, check the “Troubleshoot program” check box and then click “The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now”. Then select “Windows Vista Service Pack 2”. Then click “Start” program. Now everything should work properly! It will install. But don’t reboot yet!
Now locate and explore the freshly installed folder in your program files directory – (probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Launch Manager or C:\Program Files\Launch Manager depending on if you are running 64-bit or 32-bit)
right-click on “LManager.exe”, select the “troubleshoot compatibility” tab, check the “Troubleshoot program” check box and then click “The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now”. Then select “Windows Vista Service Pack 2”. Then click “Start” program. Now everything should work properly! It will install.
Reboot and enjoy properly synced volume, and fully functioning buttons.
