My microwave intermittently (1) hums but doesn't heat, (2) runs but then trips the circuit breaker, (3) works correctly. Right now, we keep resetting the circuit breaker multiple times until the microwave starts heating again, but it's annoying and it can't be good for our electrical system. Could someone help me identify what the issue could be? All other features work correctly (clock, light, turntable, range fan, range light). I notice that when I press the stainless steel plate around the touch buttons, it can sometimes cause the heating to work, or to stop working. Your help is greatly appreciated!

By the way, we can tell when it heats because the humming sounds slightly different. And when it switches from non-heating to heating (or vice versa), it sounds like the hum "switches gears", so to speak.

On breaker 7 that runs the lights and receptacles in 2 bedrooms, the light in my crawlspace, the light in the attic, two ceiling lights in the kitchen (but no receptacles), and the outlet for the...

1) You must see if the circuit where the microwave is overload, you must use the amperimeter and see how many amperes are reading when all the load in the circuit 7 are running. if is normal about 10amp-12amps the circuit is o.k
2) test the c.breaker can be faulty, since there are NOT tripped.
3) However you must see if the lines for power in that circuit is loose?
4) Tight very well the Neutral +Ground
5) see the diagram attached, and correct if the outlet is wrong.
6) If you are NOT qualified to do this electrical job , call some electrician for to avoid danger to your home or yourself.

Of course you must test the microwave magnetron for faulty or short in the magnetron+diode+transformer+capacitor. ISOLATED the microwave first and then troubleshooting the circuit of your home.
God bless you

Microwave keeps tripping circuit breaker

Chances are you have a shorted "monitor" interlock switch, or its mount is broken.

See this door switch help file.

You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and part ordering help here.

To give you more specific help, we would need the brand name and

full model number of your microwave.

Hotpoint rvm1625sj01 no power

Hello

Plug the microwave into the outlet if the microwave won't power up. Make sure the plugs on the microwave match the type of outlet. A four-pronged outlet can only be used with a four-pronged plug. Same with three-pronged outlets---they only work with three-pronged plugs.

Inspect the plug. Make sure it hasn't been cut or tampered with. Four-pronged plugs can't be cut down to fit a three-pronged outlet. Three-pronged plugs mustn't be forced into four-pronged outlets. A three-pronged plug mustn't be used in a two-pronged outlet, either.

Replace blown fuses, or if there's a circuit breaker, check it for tripped breakers. Sometimes the trip won't be obvious, so cycle the circuit breakers. Turn them all the way off and then back on again.

Plug another appliance in the outlet. You will find this easier with three-pronged appliances. Simply plug a toaster, or other appliance into the microwave's outlet, and see if it works. If it works, you know the problem is with the microwave, not the power circuit. Have the microwave serviced or replace it. If the toaster or other appliance doesn't turn on, you know the problem is with the circuit.

LG LRM2060ST trips circuit breaker sometimes

needs to have circuit of its own rated @ 20 amps powered by # 12-2-wg wire , also very good idea to plug into a good surge protector to protect its control board, as any computer the boards are very susceptible to spike voltage caused by lightning and power problems , as to how it worked before , breakers vary a little in the amount of current it takes to trip them with age , the number of time they have to be reset and heat they have been subjected to over a period of time so it is not unusual for say one 20 amp breaker to trip @ 16 and another @19 for example also the length of wire between the breaker and the appliance can effect the trip range
