You don't need the cd. You can configure the router through the browser. Here's the manual link. The chapter easy setup and configuration will help you set it up without the cd.

You do not need the installation CD to install the router. The CD is just a convenience item for computer novices. Netgear does supply SETUP documentation for many of its routers that take you through the manual installation of them.

For the WGR614 router, the manuals for the different versions can be found here:

If you have problems or do not completely understand the installation process, please do not hesitate to ask here or e-mail me.

you just need to open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1 (default username is "admin" adn default password is "password"). it'll prompt you now for the router's setup page where you can setup your internet connection.

netgear kwgr614 i have internet when connecting staight from the cable to the desk top, but when the router is plugged in first there is no connection.

Well, i have set up several routers and they actually run better without the setup disk. as long as you know how to set it up, you it will work fine. (Setup disks tend to be over controlling of your network.)
To setup:
-Unplug your modem of all plugs.
-plug in your cable wire to the back of the modem.
-Plug in the ethernet wire from the modem to your router.
-Turn on the power(plug in) to your modem and give 2 mins.
Plug in ethernet cord from router to your computer.
-Plug in power to your router and give 30 seconds.
-power on your computer and give 1 min after start up.
-Make sure your internet is working and you are good 2 go.

They don't seem to offer a download for the CD, but it's not really necessary.
Go to http://www.netgear.com/ and download the manual, which gives very clear instructions. This might take a little longer, but you'll have a much better understanding of routers when you're finished.
FWIW, most routers will work without any set up at all.
To enable encryption, you'll need to review the instructions.
