Question about JVC Cybercam GR-D90 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

3 Answers

"Lens cap" message

I have a JVC GR-D90 camcorder - owned less than two years. Recently, the camcorder has begun to display a "lens cap" message when powered with the lens cap off. No video is present - thus camcorder is unusable. Sent a query to JVC, but no reply. I've checked a few other forums and found this to be a persistent problem for a variety of JVC camcorders, but nothing on possible solutions. Does anyone have any hints on rectifying the problem?

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

Yes I have a solution .. let the company buy it from you and even in a very low price because repairing it will cost as much as a new camcorder, then replacing this stupid camera with 100$ is better than keeping it in front of you and thinkin' about how to repair it .. because as I told you repairing it cost like buying a new one .

From what I've seen, not something those at home can fix.

Display is black even after removing the lens cap

See my post of before. I just knocked the camera on the floor by mistake and it miraculously started working again after years. Shows it must be mechanical and not related to software.
