My dell leptop refus starting i got message : Primary hard disk drive not found , CDBOOT ; Memory overflow error

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Older dell latitude cpx running XP. yesterday after loading firefox and a few mozzilla add ons .. today I boot to error 0 no primary hard disk found.. bios says no hdd installed ????

Hello, Jay.

Well, as the message indicates, your hard disk drive is failing or failed. Try running your diagnostics to verify (boot and press F2 or F12 repeatedly).

If the hard drive is failing, see if someone locally can help to retrieve your documents and other files by removing the drive and setting up the drive as a slave drive on another computer.

The drive would then need to be replaced. Price the same type of drive but it may not be cost-effective to use another drive in this computer.

Hope this helps.

I have two Dell Latitude Laptop C500/C600 exhibitting the same problems with detecting the primary Hard Drive. The drives show up in the Bios (I have tried several drives, all pulled from other working...

if hdd is detected in the bios but cannot be detected when booting to windows then do this.

1. turn off laptop, press and hold on the Fn key then press power button once
2. psa test will run and check if it shows your error codes such as 0141 - 0142 - 0146 this means hdd needs replacement.

Dell latitude c600 primary hard drive not found

that means the storage system's MAIN drive, (the C: drive, the hard drive, the hard disk) is not working, OR, is not being seen by the computer. Try removing and reinserting the drive, or take it to a shop to have the drive tested. The c600 was usually very durable, and it is likely the PC itself is fine, and you just need a replacement hard drive. But the BAD news is, if your hard drive is toast, then so is the operating system, which means that would have to be reinstalled as well. the c600 usually came with Windows 2k, 98SE, or ME. If you are "tech challenged" like you say, your BEST option is take it to a local shop, and tell them the hard drive failed. MOST shops will charge about 30-50 bucks for a 40-80 gig hard drive, and charge about 100 bucks to reinstall Windows and drivers. AS LONG AS YOUR WINDOWS PRODUCT KEY IS ON YOUR MACHINE AND VISIBLE you wont have to purchase a registration. IF HOWEVER, your key is MISSING or unreadable (wear, scratches, etc) you will have to purchase a license from Microsoft, if that is the case, then go ahead and purchase a copy of XP have them install Windows XP and drivers for you. USUALLY, a pc shop will install purchased software for free.

No bootable devices-strike F1 to retry boot,F2 for setup utillity

Is there a hard disk installed inside the computer? try reconnecting it.

The motherboard, the hard drive, or the connector could be faulty in this case.

Remember to unplug and remove battery if you open the laptop, the hard drive is in most cases in the bottom under a cover with few screws or in some dells its on the side with few screws and comes out from the side instead from the bottom.

Primary hard disk drive 0 not found

Hi Kenneth,

If you just bought the laptop, then it is still covered by a warranty. Then all you have to do is contact the seller or directly to dell. This is the fastest and most appropriate way, and usually you will get one-to-one replacement (they will replace your laptop with new one). But, please make sure by contacting Dell.

Regards,

dC
