I have a JVC GR-DV500U digital camcorder that does stills at 1.33 megapixels. The camera does stills ranging from 1600*1200 down to 640*480; settings range from Fine to Standard/automatic and manual. I would like to know the best resolution for 4x6" prints and/or manual vs automatic. In advance, thanks.

I presume that you are using desk top computer, thus it has bigger connector. Solution, have find this connector so that one end fit to your cam and the other end fits to your PC. This connector have the same format(protocol) and easy to find in computer store. USB streaming is ok for this model for earlier windows OS, haven't try with windows 7 yet. hope it helps
Problem is this see the link just call JVC for free
repairs for CCD Sensors u get streaks blackouts and discolored picture
when CCD goes Bad no problem it is a known problem just call them in ur
region they will arrange for free repairs dont worry if u are out of warranty and ur model is not on list this is valid on all models thru out the world with same problem and pls rate me FIXYA for
the card is used only for still photos. it can capture photos at a low resolution 640x480 - so not a substitute for a 3mp camera, but useful if you need to get some stills in for reference or on screen only use.
Dirty video head! Playback newly opened blank tape for five minutes, after that eject, reinsert, playback then eject again five times, these will serve as your video head cleaner, never use "video head cleaning cassette tape" for it will only damage your camera.
Most camera has built in video head cleaner installed inside and activates only when you insert, initial play/rec, and ejects a tape. If the problem is still there you need pro fix then.[:0)
You will need all the pixels the camera can produce so set the camera for 1600 x 1200 Fine.
That should produce a good 4 x 6 print.
I can't help with auto/manual as I do not know what they do on that camera.
