Reading paper jam

these machines only have one sensor that gives the paper jam message, and its not uncommon for a foreign object to find it way inside and hold the little black lever open and give you a false paper jam message.
so first remove all paper from both the cassette and rear feed, then use a torch/flashlight to look inside, you might need to open the rear door and look in there as well.

HP 4215xi all in one, continues to give the error paper jam, there is no paper jam. I have cleaned all sensors, rollers etc. I have tried a partial and full reset. Any ideas?

Hi,
  1. Turn off the HP product and turn it around so the back of the unit faces you.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the all-in-one. The power cord must be disconnected to allow the paper feed rollers to turn freely.
  3. Locate and open the rear access door by pressing in on the left side tab and then pulling the door toward you. Figure 2: Removing the rear access door

Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door. Click How to Buy on this page to order replacement parts.
  1. From the rear access door opening, remove the jammed paper.
  2. Remove the remaining paper from the paper supply tray. Discard any paper that is damaged or crumpled and then re-stack and reload the paper into the paper supply tray.
  3. Reinstall the rear access door.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the unit and turn the unit on.

The following information will help prevent paper jams from occurring:
  • Never use paper that is torn or wrinkled.
  • If you are having problems using paper that has already been printed on once (recycling), replace it with new paper.
  • Remove and then reinstall the rear access door. Verify that the access door is fully locked in place. The paper can skew if the rear access door is not locked.
  • Every six months to one year, clean the paper feed rollers with a rag lightly moistened with water. Over time the paper feed rollers accumulate dust and do not function as well as they once did.
  • When printing envelopes, tuck the flap into the envelope and crease the folds before printing.
Goodluck..

My Dell MFP 1815dn has a paper Jam 2. I removed the toner cartridge and pulled the paper out, before I realized that I needed to open the back. I believe I thought I got the paper out, but the printer is...

After a paper jam occurs in the rear cover of a Dell Laser Multi-Function Printer 1815N, the printer will not resume when the jammed paper is removed. This is the normal behavior of the printer as there is no sensor on the rear cover of this printer.

To open the back cover and remove any stuck paper, perform the following steps:
  1. Open and close the front cover.
The jammed paper may automatically exit the printer. If the paper does not exit, go to the next step.
  2. Gently pull the paper out of the output tray.
  3. If you cannot see the paper in the output tray or the paper does not move when pulled, open the rear cover.
  4. Skip to step 9. If you do not see the paper, go to the next step.If you see the jammed paper, push the two blue pressure levers up and remove the paper.
  5. Release the blue strap, the rear cover stopper, and fully open the rear cover.
  6. Unfold the duplex guide fully.
  7. While pushing the fuser lever to the right, open the fuser door. NOTICE: Make sure to unfold the duplex guide before opening the fuser door, or the fuser door may be damaged.
  8. Pull the jammed paper out.
  9. Return the levers, fuser door, rear cover stopper, and duplex guide to their original position.
  10. Close the rear cover.
  11. Open and close the front cover.
    Printing automatically resumes.

Keeps telling me to remove back tray as I have a paper jam. No paper jam. Message won't clear and won't let me put in new ink cartridges which it needs....printer is 2 months old....what gives?

You did not post a Make/Model but with many machines they will have a trap door/panel at the rear of the printer. If paper did not pickup from paper tray properly then it will show a jam message that can only be reset by opening the rear door/panel.

202.01 and 202.03 Paper Jam

The 202.03 error code has to do with an early life failure of the fuser. Try replacing the fuser. If that doesn't work, a tech is needed to replace rear door. Don't forget to reset maintenance counts when you replace fuser!!

Paper jam

This video explains how to resolve a recurring paper jam on your product. It sounds like the rollers on the rear access door may not be working properly and are making jamming the paper as it starts to feed up into the printer? Check the rollers on your rear access door and see if they have some give in them and roll freely.

T642 Paper Jam and Check paper stock jamming.

You need to change the paper type when using card stock, plain etc.
As for the paper jams; you need to check the exit sensor at the exit door, also if you have a duplex, 2-3 drawer you also need to check for jams.
