I would check your front drive wheels and back idler wheels for debris or leaves. If something has become lodged in the pool cleaners axles, it could be preventing full motion. You can also check for an obstruction in the impeller (take the top grill off and check for an obstruction). If it is not either of these, it is probably going to be a malfunctioning gear box or drive system. If that is the case, you will have to have it repaired by an authorized pool professional that handles robotic pool cleaners.
I would first check for obstructions in the front and back wheel axles. Then, take the top grill off and make sure that the impeller is not jammed. It sounds more likely to me that you are having a problem with the pool cleaners gear box or drive system. If it is still under warranty, send it back to the manufacturer. If its not, you will need to have it repaired by an experienced pool repair person.
First, I would make sure that you don't have any debris in your wheel axle or impeller. Both could restrict movement. You can also try removing the limit screw on the wheels to see if that helps. Most likely, your problem is going to be with the interval timing software in the pool cleaners computer system. If this is the case, you are going to have to have it services and repaired professionally.
There could be several problems with this pool cleaner that cause it to move back and forth. First, check the impeller to make sure that its not jammed. Take the top grill off by removing the 2 screws from the top. Remove the debris. Replace the top grill and tighten the 2 screws. Next, check your front and rear wheels for any obstruction that could cause lack of movement. You might also need to remove the limit screw from the wheels for greater movement abilities.
There is a plastic gear in the drive motor that has a pin that goes through it and the drive shaft, this pin actually wears a slot in it from going back and forth and stops driving the unit. You can probably hear the driver motor cycling forward and reverse. i have photos of a modification to fix this
I'm not sure what your exact question is, but below is a copy of the users manual for these pool cleaners. It should help you trouble shoot whatever problem you are having.
