Having trouble with Canon Digital Elph Powershot S400 and writing to CF card, now all of the sudden keep getting CF Error. I have many sandisk cards and the camera has worked fine for some time. I only use sandisk CF cards and sandisk reader to transfer to my pc. I have used the Powershot S400 format function on my cards. The format function works fine, but when I go to take a picture, the camera take the picture, but once it tries to write to the CF, the camera give the CF Error. I also have a Canon 20D, I have tried the CF cards that are giving me this problem in that camera and they work fine. I also try use the Canon 20D format function. The cards format fine and work fine on the 20d. Any ideas why the Powershot S400 does not like any of the 4 Sandisk CF after months... Any ideas? I have owned my camera now for almost 3 years...
Well there is a known problem witht eh CF memory design, i hope this is not your problem but it may be. Take your camera into a well lit area or get a small flash light. Open the memory door and peek down inside the camera and look at the pins inside the camera. Are they all uniform? does any look bent or out of place? there should be 2 uniform rows no pins should be missing or out of place. If they are you have a connection problem. This is one of the issues with this memory format and its why they have changed the design to SD. This is common with people who remove the cards alot and use a reader over time the card and the slot becomes warn and its very easy to bend pins because the card isnt sliding in smooth. If this is your problem (a few bent pins) you may have to take it in for service or try and fix it yourself. Ive read about people using a mechanical pencil. Remove the lead and the pin slips right into the top and you can carefuly move it back. Hope this helps!

I am getting an error message that says "incompatible jpeg format". Sometines I can take a picture and then sometimes it fails saying "corrupted data."
I have changed the memory card twice and it continues to occur even with a new card.
