You need a product key to activate your Windows 7 Ultimate Edition.
It should be on the box with the disk in it or if your computer was pre-installed with Windows 7 Ultimate, it will be as a sticker somewhere on your case.
To legally have Windows, you have to pay for the product key. If you have bought it and lost the product key (with proof) I would suggest trying to contact Microsoft and see what they can do. (I have never done this so don't know if they can or will do anything.)
If all this fails then buy another product key for Windows 7 Ultimate Edition
If you are reinstalling the exact same version of Windows on the exact same computer / hardware where it had previously been activated, then you should be able to contact the Microsoft Activation Centre by telephone and be guided through the process of re-activating your software.
IF the sticker was peeled off the computer, then the product key sould have been already entered and would never have to reenter it (unless you reinstalled the OS) there are 3rd party software programs to get the key off your pc or you may have to purchase a key from microsoft
The
Windows product installation code is on the Windows label on the bottom of your
laptop. If the label is missing then you need to contact Goodmans to get this information, you will need your receipt as proof of purchase. Otherwise you will need to purchase a new copy of Windows XP or Windows Vista or the latest version Windows 7.
if you have the wga icon in the system tray saying your copy of windows is not genuine, look on torrent sites like isohunt for a wga remover and make windows genuine registry patch
To know whether you have genuine winows copy run this command in run dialog "oobe/msoobe /a" without quotes. If you get a dialog box saying that "Thanks for using our product" then you have a genuine copy of windows.
you need a valid COA(certificate of authenticity). means you need a valid product key for your operating system. Once you have it, it will solve your problem.
