I don't have any alerts or alarm set. It would just be sitting there without the cable/cradle and just power on after awhile. Is it hunted? But seriously, I noticed that this happens after I undock it. My process is 1. power off axim, 2. remove from craddle. One thing I notice is that activesync is still resident on the axim. Could this be the cause? I force it to shut down but usually get the error that activesync is not responding.
If you turn off your device to quickly after it was connected to your computer it will turn back on. You can fix this by simpley waiting a couple of second after you remove your device from the cradle/cable and then turning it off. AS on your device needs a second to see that the connection was lost.
I think if you turn it off before taking it out of the cradle it's still working on the countdown for "synchronize every X minutes", and has to turn itself back on to tell that it's no longer in the cradle. Try opening ActiveSync, select Options, go to the Schedule tab, and uncheck the top option to sync every X minutes. Then you'll have to manually sync, but I think that'll keep it from turning back on...
I've noticed that mine will power itself on as well. But is usually goes like this... 1. Sync with computer 2. Unplug cable 3. Turn off Axim 4. ~1min later...Axim is on and at the password screen
