The computer would not boot with a 2nd IDE drive installed

Try setting the jumper on the IDE hard drive to SL (ie slave).

Hp compaq dc7100 cmt can't start. 9 beeps and led red

Hi,

9 beeps means that the input voltage to the PC's power supply is incorrect, have you changed the switch at the back of the PC from 110 to 240v or vice versa. If the PC was not bought in the UK then it may be set to 110v in which case the voltage selector at the back of the PC needs to be changed to 240v. If there is no voltage selector would recommend changing the power supply.

If by changing the selector to the correct voltage it still beeps 9 times you are looking at a new power supply unit which you can buy from HP at a high cost or buy a used one from:

Hope this helps!!!

Im presuming your running Windows XP yes ?
1. Adding some coolerpaste may do the trick.
2. Try replacing the RAM i had this trouble and it was a dodgey/dead stick of RAM
3. Make sure theres no short circuiting anywhere.
4. Replace the Power supply.
5. Try reinstalling Windows again.
Hope this helped. Any more questions just ask me :)

I have a HP DC7100 CMT,that loses hours during the day.

Hi im Rain.
Ok when installing components inside a motherboard always use a ESD braclet that will ground you to your computer. Failure to use a ESD braclet can fry parts in your system. if you have replaced the cmos battery and it still will not keep yime . The problem may be the motherboard its self. Make sure that you have installed the correct battery for your systems CMOS. If that fails you will need to replace your motherboard.

HP Compaq d530 CMT Desktop Freezes after a while

Is it like that before? If not then probably, a failing component, a short, most likely RAM card (when you happened to check its rated capacity getting low), connection problem.

Also, too much running applications at the same time, hard drive getting almost full, virus. Or borderline hardware specification for installed application.

Check the easiest first. Is this virus? is hard drive getting full? Borderline specification? Add on card contact dirty? Ailing component?

hope it helps
