Emachine dvd writer not showing on my compter and cant find a driver on emachine.com

If u loose your dvd drive quites working and all it does is spin and flash lights turn off the pc and open it if you have warranty dont do it call the warranty number because if you remove the sear the warranty is void but if your like me and dont care then check the seriall cable with the side that connects to the mother board checki to see if its not loose some of these cables where manufactured wrong so they dont lock into place replace it or turn it upside down where the blue cable is at the top bring the dvd writer down one slot if it has a thin metal plate covering the bottom expansion bay remove the metal by cuting it with pliers or do it by hand bring the player down and use the the nesxt serial port cable so you will have the blue at the top not being used.

This is a hardware issue.
The LG drives motor attaches to the top rotor by help of a magnet, which fixes the disc so it can spin symmetrically. For this to happen, the drive unit has to have a fixed piece of metal. Now, this particular metal ring gets loose quite easily and then permanently sticks on the top of the unit, where the magnet is situated. As it is now loosely attached to the top of the drive unit, the optical disc will spin errandly, that is where the clunking, rattling noise comes from.
To fix it, you must open the LG player and the drive unit, which is really simple to do, and glue the metal ring back in its original position.
Thats how I did it and the drive now purrs along quietly.

LG really produces those units cheaply, that is the reason the metal ring detaches so easily.

my x box will play cd's and dvd's but not games. do you know what i can do to fix that. when i put in a game it says to put disc in an x box 360 console.

Here's how:

1. Carefully open the Xbox by removing the torx screws and then releasing the clips that hold the case together. The clips and molding pieces all come off easily; pry them open carefully.

2. Load the flash firmware disc into the DVD drive and power off the Xbox.
3. Disconnect the DVD drive from the SATA cable and note the brand of drive used in your Xbox. Currently Microsoft uses Hitachi, Phillips and Toshiba DVD drives in the Xbox 360. Only the Toshiba and Hitachi drives have firmware updates.

4. Connect the DVD drive to your PC with a cross-wired SATA cable interfaced to a compatible SATA port. Confirm that the video cable is connected to the Xbox so that it won't turn off during the flash process.

5. Hold the two loose wires of the cross-wired cable together and press the "Start" button on the Xbox. Separate the wires immediately when the green light begins to flash on the front of the Xbox. The light will begin to flash quickly and the drive will begin to spin as it enters mode "B."

6. Turn the PC on and allow it to fully boot from the DVD drive. If Windows appears to fail the boot, eject the DVD and it will finish booting. You've successfully flashed the drive.

Given all the things that you ahev done, clean the drive with a CD/DVD cleaner and / or air duster. Check the device is enabled in Device Manager and it shows no errors. If it does then read the explanation. If not and it looks OK you will most likely need a new drive!

Open tray error on xbox 360

Mine had the same problem. On mine the spindle wasn't turning the game. It kept trying to then quit and said "Open Tray". The warranty was out so I took it apart opened the dvd drive and took apart the spindle. The grease in the spindle was black, I guess from all the heat. Cleaned it out and put some high temperature grease on spindle shaft and in the hole. It now spins with ease. There are videos on youtube on how to take apart the xbox and to take apart the dvd drive and spindle. Just pay close attention at how tight the screws the hold the spindle down are.I hope this helps

dvd-rw samsung can't detect in bios

check the cables again

if noting then the drive is broken, repairs? if you have warranty get it replaced. if you dont buy a new drive.. they are quite cheap these days. 30usd I hear.
