Sony HD videos Review:Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 and HDR-CX110 Camcorders and cameras could be the electronic devices that you would never get rid of. There are special events and memorial moments like wedding, sports, birthday party, a long trip in South Africa and so on. While choosing a camcorder with less than $500 bucks, what models would you consider? There are popular brands like Sony, Panasonic, JVC, and Canon. Each manufacture promotes products with different attractive points. Here I would like to take a look at two new release Sony camcorders, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 and Sony Handycam HDR-CX110, for entry-level consumers as examples. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 could be taken as one of the ultra-compact camcorders with the light weight, while Sony Handycam HDR-CX110 is general camcorder. Both AVCHD camcorders are wonderful with HD recording at 1920x1080, and there are bundled tools for some camcorders. However, the Mac version of PMB portable only seems to support Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 now, and there is no news for Sony HDR-CX110 yet. To make full use of AVCHD camcorder, you can use AVCHD MTS/M2TS converter for easy video editing and importing to software like Adobe Premiere, Avid. Let's have a look at the comparison chart for the two models: Even though Sony HDR-CX110 is more expensive and larger than a mini-camcorder, this model includes a 25x zoom lens for better video and picture. However, Cyber-shot also includes higher effective sensor resolution to 10.2 megapixels. The AVCHD videos with MPEG4 AVC/H.264 video codec provide high quality. Since the videos are recorded with interlace, while playing AVCHD MTS/M2TS videos on computer, you shall remember to deinteralce .mts for smooth playback. If your eye is not that critical for images, the two models Cyber-shot DSC-TX7 and HDR-CX110 could be your first camcorder for HD video. If you are looking for a higher quality camcorder, a higher cost will be ready for around a thousand bucks like Sony Handycam HDR-XR520V, HDR-CX550V, Canon Vixia HV30 or other AVCHD camcorders. Fortunately, the AVCHD camera MTS converter from Aunsoft Studio supports the AVCHD camcorders listed above, and you can play and edit HD videos on both Windows and Mac.

Mac Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid converter-Convert AVHCD to Avid I have Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD HDD camera to shoot family videos and beach videos. However, after I transfer .mts files from Sony HDR-SR11, Avid does not support the AVCHD file. I wonder the best AVCHD workflow into Avid from Sony HDR-SR11 and google for solutions. I was recommended with Sorenson Squeeze to convert Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid DNxHD codec. However, Sorenson Squeeze does not natively support .mts and the file extension should be changed to .m2ts. The conversion time is much longer than that the original clip. One thing should be mentioned is that the exported DNxHD is loaded quickly to Avid. Sorenson Squeeze also costs quite a lot. I just find a better Mac Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid converter - Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac. The price is dramatically low comparing to Sorenson Squeeze, and the output MOV video works in Avid MC and Xpress Pro. Here is how I import Sony HDR-SR11 camera videos to Avid Media Composer by converting 1920x1080 MTS to HD MOV. Step 1. Load Sony HDR-SR11 videos to Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac. Run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the Mac Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid converter on Mac Snow Leopard, and click the "Add" button to load HD .mts videos. Step 2. Choose AVC MOV for Avid. Click the "Format" option, and choose Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MOV (AVC)(*.mov), and the Sony MTS to Avid converter will transcode the HD MTS files to MOV for Avid MC, Xpress Pro. Step 3. Convert Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD to Avid. Click the convert button under the preview window, and the Sony MTS to Avid Converter will start converting HDR-SR11 AVCHD MTS to HD MOV for Avid Xpress Pro, or the upgraded Media Composer 5. As soon as the conversion in finished, you can import Sony HDR-SR11 videos to Avid Media Composer, Avid Xpress Pro for editing. The output HD MOV also works in Final Cut Pro and iMovie, and other non-linear editing software like Adobe Premiere on Mac OS X. If you are using other Sony AVCHD cameras, you may also face the same problem. Have a look at the Sony HD camcorder page for Sony HDR-XR520, HDR-CX110, DSC-TX7, HDR-TG7 and other models.
