Tip & How-To about Televison & Video
Your projection TV looks like you are watching 3D video and none of the colored beams are aligned. You go to the menu to set the convergence and find that the convergence adjustment menu is missing. What is causing this?
Basically you need three parts which will be installed in the area of the flyback transformer. An electrolytic capacitor, a fuse and a diode. This circuit supplies dc power for the convergence circuit and without it the convergence circuit will not work. Without convergence correction your unit will look like it is in 3D and you will have red and blue shadows around all text, etc.
You need to get a kit at http://www.tvrepairworld.com/rca_repair_kits . You want the one labeled ITC222 and ITC222A convergence option missing repair kit. It comes with very good instructions and appropriate schematics to make the repair possible by anyone. In addition there are videos available on the parts website to help with the repair.
This kit will fix the problem with the missing convergence menu but may not fix all the problems with the miss-convergence in the unit. If it does not solve all the problems go to my tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r6396176-projection_tv_troubleshooting which will help with further troubleshooting. You could also have problems with the convergence board, which may have blown out the power supply for the circuit in the first place.
Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.
