After changing the ink catridges and resetting the drum fuse lately (note: it is known that the fuse will be blown off after certain number of prints but otherwise is in good condition), my Epson Acculaser C900 resumes to produce colourful output. Unfortunately, I do encounter the following printout problems: 1. Whenever I print some coloured shapes, an identical shadow in greyish blue colour corresponding to the coloured shapes appears at the bottom on the same paper output. 2. Whenever all four colours (black included) are used to print out different coloured shapes, red coloured flakes appear surrounding the edge on all coloured shapes being printed. 3. No red coloured flakes appear if only three colours are used to print out any shapes. E.g. if I print only one red and one yellow or blue circles, I do not have red coloured flakes on their edges. But if I print circles in red, yellow and blue colour, all with black edges, I will get red flakes surrounding all edges of the circles. I am frustrated and cannot figure out which component is faulty. Clearly I have two kinds of problems: the problem of greyish blue shadows on all output, and the problem of red coloured flakes on edges of shapes under certain circumstances. Can you offer advice what to do to rectify the problems?

The repeating image is a ghost image, and here is described what it can be. Probably if you solve this, you also solve the red-dot problem. If possible, I would suggest to replace the wiper blade.
Repeating images on laser printerThis likely means a faint ghost of the main printout at a distance equal to the circumference of one of the rollers or photosensitive drum.

Depending on where the problem originates, this could be a bad wiper (cleaning) blade, faulty corona, or incomplete fusing.

  • If the distance between successive images is equal to the circumference of the photosensitive drum, it is a wiper blade, erase lamp, or corona problem.A residual latent image or residual toner is sticking to the drum and not being properly cleared.

  • If the distance between successive images is equal to the circumference of one of the fuser rollers, then the fusing may not be complete due to damaged rollers or an incorrect temperature setting.

It is easy to determine where the problem is located: Interrupt a printout in mid-stride (where part of the paper is between the toner/developer and fuser. If the un-fused image has ghosting, it is a fault in the area of the drum
