Dryer Not Drying Clothes? Check These 4 Things
If your dryer isn't drying clothes the way it used to, there are a few things you can check before calling a technician. First, make sure that the lint screen is clear. A clogged lint screen will reduce the airflow in the dryer and make it less effective. Second, check the venting system. If the vents are blocked, air will not be able to flow freely and clothes will not dry as quickly. Third, clean the lint filter. A dirty filter will also reduce airflow and make the dryer less effective. Finally, check the heating element. If it is damaged or not working properly, it will need to be replaced. By following these simple steps, you can troubleshoot your dryer and get it back to working properly.
I would check to see that the lint/filter isn't completely clogged up. This could make the dryer warm without allowing it to do its job of drying the clothes. Also, is the drum spinning? If not, it could be indicative of other problems.
If the dryer gets hot, but not drying the clothes my first question would be if the drum is turning or not. If not then I would check the belt and make sure it isn't busted. Then I would check to make sure that your exhause hose is not clogged up. If so clean out.
But if that isn't the problem then I would check the blower assembly.
Hello Deborah, it could be a number of things, First the belt, usually if you hear a humming and the drum isn't turning, Its a broken or slipped belt, the hum you hear is the motor turning, But with no belt the drum can't turn
other things that can go wrong and cause this are the safety switch located by the dryer door has failed, or a thermostat located in the rear of the machine is bad or stuck
if you feel you can check these things , thats cool, just let me know you want to give it a try ,
Check the timer, and the sensor. Sounds like it is having a problem with the timer or sensor no noticing that the clothes are still wet. Please rate if satisfied. Thank you
Hi Don,
So let me get this straight, you are getting heat from the gas burner and the drum rotates but your clothes remain wet? You can check a few basic things to identify where the problem lies.. First off, have you checked the lint trap and cleaned it? Secondly, have you checked your vent system ( meaning : are you sure it is not clogged anywhere in the duct or at the end where it exits outside? If that's OK.. when your system is drying clothes.. do you get hot air flow at the end of that duct? If not, your blower may not be working ..You need to move that hot air out of the tub for the system to dry. Heat, Motion to move clothes, air flow from the blower and an unimpeded path via the vent duct to outside.. Hope one of these things to check gets you going. Regards...
