How to restore IMAP folder to Outlook

If you accidentally delete a folder in Outlook that was created automatically by your IMAP settings and still exists in your webmail, here is what to do. In Outlook, in the bar above, click on the FOLDER tab, then click "IMAP Folders". Type in part of the folder name that you are seeking (case sensitive), and let it find that folder and list it below. Then click that folder name and SUBSCRIBE to it, then click APPLY. Then close that child-window, and then close Outlook. Now reopen Outlook, and that folder will be in your folder list with its contents.
In Outlook, I had gone to empty the "Junkmail" folder that had come from IMAP. But I accidently deleted the whole folder. When I looked at the webmail online, the folder was still there accumulating mail items. So I had to figure out how to reinstate that folder to Outlook.

How do i delete a message on Microsoft outlook 7, for good. when i delete i just get a line thru the email.

Hi,
Normally, when you delete a message in an IMAP account, it gets a line through it, until you completely eradicate the message by purging the Inbox. (Many consider this an irritating "feature".) The message does not go to the "Deleted Items" folder, the "Trash" or anywhere else. However, after purging, a message that was marked for deletion will be completely erased.
To permanently delete the items marked for deletion, do the following:
Click a folder in your IMAP e-mail account (e-mail account: The server name, user name, password, and e-mail address used by Outlook to connect to an e-mail service. You create the e-mail account in Outlook by using information provided by your administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).). On the Edit menu, point to Purge Deleted Messages. Do one of the following:
Click Purge Marked Items in "folder".
Only items marked for deletion in the folder that you are in are purged from the IMAP mail server.
Click Purge Marked Items in "e-mail account".
All items marked for deletion in any folder for this IMAP e-mail account are purged from the IMAP mail server.
Click Purge Marked Items in All Accounts.
All items marked for deletion in any folder for any IMAP e-mail account are purged from the IMAP mail server.

I can't find any of my mail. Nothing in imp drafts etc. Help?

Outlook 2013's IMAP implementation has changed quite dramatically when compared to previous versions of Outlook and has remained mostly the same in Outlook 2016. While it does do a better job at getting the special folders correct more often, there sadly is no more option to change it manually in case Outlook gets it wrong. When Outlook 2013 or Outlook 2016 can't find the correct folder for the Sent Items or Deleted Items folder, it will create a folder within your mailbox which doesn't sync with the mail server. This is why the folder holds "This computer only" behind its name.
Correcting this is a little less obvious as it was in Outlook 2010 but still possible for most IMAP mail servers. Setting the Sent Items folder for IMAP accounts in Outlook 2013 or Outlook...

Hi! Follow these steps to get the information:
1. Re-create your mail folder hierarchy by dragging folders into place in the Folder list. Note that any folder you have created to group sub-folders but that does not itself contain messages will not appear in the Folder list and so must be created again.
2. Re-download the list of newsgroups from each news account.
3. Reset your subscribed newsgroups and download messages again.
4. Reset synchronization options on IMAP and newsgroup folders.
5. Edit any message rule that moves or copies messages to folders other than the Inbox.

POP and SMTP Access service is active. Once configured, POP Access allows you to download, read, manage, and send your [email protected] Messaging Center email on your computer, both online and offline, using your favorite email client.

IMAP and SMTP services are active. IMAP is a method of accessing your email messages that are kept on a mail server. Once configured, IMAP allows you to download, read, manage, and send your email Messaging Center email using your favorite email client while online or offline. Using an IMAP-compliant email client such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger, an IMAP user can access his/her email on the server from different locations, using both the IMAP client and the WebMail client. For example, when you read a message and store it in a special folder in your IMAP client while at work, you can access that message and folder while reading your email at home with the WebMail client or with another IMAP client without having to transfer messages or folders between computer stations.
