Tip & How-To about Eppendorf 5415d 5415-d Centrifuge W/13200 Rpm Rotor Model F45-24-11

Fixing an Eppendorf centrifuge 5415D

This unit gets a power supply issue once it is getting a bit old and either returns an error code or does not boot.
On the mother board there are two electrolytic capacitors near the 7805 regulator that have probably dried out. You can confirm this with an ESR meter to measure the cap values in capacitance and resistance. Replace the two caps and retest.
The motor drive power module will need to be unbolted and peeled back to access the underside of the caps to desolder them.

Manufacturer of Compaq Evo Motherboard

open it up and the mother board manufacturer will be printed on the board
any mother board can be used as a replacement and if it needs replacing update it so that a later chip can be used
it is cheaper to replace the mother board , power supply , memory, chip than to buy a new computer
and hard drives are now solid state and do not have any spinning bits to fail
talk with a computer repair shop and get ideas as to how to proceed
you will probably find that with a rebuild you will save at least 25% off the price of a new store model pc and get a better unit to boot

The display stopped showing temps and displayed a "6". The actual temperatures dropped to freezing. I unplugged the unit a few times for up to 2 days but the same issue developed.

Whirlpool Refrigerator Error Code: Flashing 6 on the fridge display
Condition: The 6th Sense technology is activated - If you put warm food in the refrigerator or leave the door open, the 6th Sense technology kicks on to return the refrigerator to the set temperature. The flashing 6 should go away once it gets back to the right temperature.
Part or Parts: Allow fridge to get back to temp on its own (no parts required)
Whirlpool Refrigerator Error Code: 6 on the fridge display
Condition: Computer error
Check: Remove power for 5 minutes
Part or Parts: If code returns replace mother board

POWER ISSUES? OR MOTHER BOARD......

IT WAS THE POWER SUPPLY. AS SOON AS I PUT A NEW UNIT IN, IT BOOTED RIGHT UP... NO PROBLEMS YET AND IT'S BEEN ABOUT 20 HOURS. I WAS TOLD THAT A POWER UNIT WILL DO THAT BEFORE IT GOES FOR GOOD(ALONG WITH *********** BOARD)....
