Tip & How-To about Refrigerators

Refrigeration circuit charge

It would help to have refrigerant type.
The pressures will vary according to load, as when it is first started up. The best way is to weigh the amount of refrigerant charged. By charging by feel, can read the compressor current draw, it is safe to not exceed 1/6th of the compressor LRA. Can charge slowly by filling the evaporator to feel cold refrigerant from entrance to exit.
Condensor may fill with the bottom 1/3 cooler than the hot/warm top. Overfilling will overload the compressor, frost appears on the suction line, first portion of the evaporator may not cool off and actually be warmed.

Another snip-it:
..."Kg MODE Indicator". On Cotton and Synthetic cycles, during the first 4 minutes of the cycle the intelligent sensor will weigh the laundry and adjust the cycle time, water and electricity consumption accordingly. ...

More: The intelligent KG Mode sensor weighs the laundry and adjusts the cycle time, water and electricity consumption to suit the size of the load. This gives you the optimum consumption even if you are only washing one shirt.

The intelligent KG Mode sensor

During the first minutes of the cycle, the "Kg MODE" indicator remain on while the intelligent sensor will weigh the laundry
and adjust the cycle time, water and
electricity consumption accordingly.
• Through every wash phase "Kg MODE"
allows to monitor information on the wash
load in the drum and in the first minutes
of the wash it:
- adjusts the amount of water required;
- determines the length of the wash cycle;
- controls rinsing according to the type of
fabric selected to be washed it;
- adjusts the rhythm of drum rotation for
the type of fabric being washed;
- recognizes
the presence
of lather,
increasing, if necessary, the amount of
water during rinsing;
- adjusts the spin speed according to the
load, thus avoiding any imbalance.

First question, why do you need to charge the system? Second is it a remote unit or self contained. Third do you have a set of refrigeration gauges? The best wau is to weigh the proper charge into the machine through the gauges. That varies depending if you are air cooled, water cooled or remote.

Operating pressures for 134A refrigerant system

I would go for 40 on the suction and 150 discharge, or divide the locked rotor current by 6 and charge so the current is 1/6 of the locked rotor current of the compressor, or by temperature/pressure relation 110* discharge and 35* suction, or get the suction line sweating. The best way is to remove all the refrigerant and then weigh the refrigerant the system is designed for on these critical charge appliances.
