Change or Reset Forgot Windows 7 Password with Windows Disk by Britec
First you'll want to type in the following command to backup the original sticky keys file:
copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:\
Then copy the command prompt executable (cmd.exe) over top of the sticky keys executable:
copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe
Now you can reboot the PC. Once you get to the login screen, keep tapping Shift Key, you'll see an administrator mode command prompt.
Now reset the password, type the following command, replacing the username and password with the combination you want:
net user (Your Account) (NewPassword)
Now you can login. with your new password.
Once at desktop open the command prompt, and copying the c:\sethc.exe file back to c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe.
that is your DOS prompt Try typing at the black cursor (chkdsk /r <ENTER> <Y> <ENTER> REstart the PC) If that does not work Shut down PC F8 on boot get back to Advanced boot option SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING Sign in as ADMIN or Owner say yes to get to Desktop Once you get to the Desktop (Windows XP) Start>RUN>CMD (This will be the command prompt window} (chkdsk /r <ENTER> <Y> <ENTER> Restart the PC) (Vista) Start>Start Search>cmd>(above) Right click on CMD>Left click(RUN ADMIN) (This will be the command prompt window)(chkdsk /r <ENTER> <Y> <ENTER> REstart the PC)
1. Restart your computer, and keep tapping F8 during the initial start-up until you get options, select Safe Mode with a Command Prompt then press enter.
2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that has administrator credentials.
3. Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.
Look for the most recent system checkpoint created before the errors to restore from
