FIX Your Corroded Battery Contacts in the Magellan Explorist 510 610 and 710 GPS

Do not despair. Many users find that the batteries in their Magellan Explorist 510 610 and 710 GPS devices leak. The corrosion weakens the battery contacts and causes power not to be supplied to the GPS. Unfortunately Magellan does not sell or offer these critical parts. The Gelb Organization (http://www.gelb.com) has had the parts created so that the user can order a DIY kit to replace the bad parts. The parts are accompanied by a complete instruction manual on how to do the FIX IT.

Jim, Look for battery corrosion on the contacts. Also install some Lithium batteries and see if the unit will fire up. If the unit has battery contact problems, they are available on the www.gelb.com website or eBay. JG

From your question it appears that the unit has some corrupt internal memory files. Please return the unit to Magellan. JG

i had the same problem you have to contact magellan and they will tell you it needs to be sent in for repairs and they will send you an email or give you a phone # for the closest repair center to you
