Tip & How-To about Washing Machines

Empty water from nonpumping washer

Best way I have found with least mess is to use a wet vaccum. Use the drain hose to empty. Otherwise use to draw off water by pump hose slowly. Works great with least water spillage.

Changed the door lock switch to new one and it still won't spin!

typical problem for front load washer is that it stops when it comes to a rinse or spin cycle.there is something blocking the drain pump.in order to drain all the water out of the washer the best way is to use a wet dry shop vac.
attach the vaccum to the end of the drain hose and remove all the water.
once the water is removed the door should unlock.then you can access the drain pump from either the front or rear panel depending on the model you have.some models will have a access panel on the front to check to drain pump however if you do not see anything in the pump.
then the obstruction is in the part of the drain hose that leads from the bottom of the tub into the drain pump.if there is no obstruction found then you need to check the wiring and make sure it is securely attach.
last thing when all else fails replace the drain pump.
