Tip & How-To about Washing Machines

How to unblock a washing machine pump

Below is a step by step guide on how to unblock the filter on a washing machine:
1: unplug the appliance
2: lower the waste pipe to the floor to siphon out all the water
3: Locate the filter (normally on the bottom right hand side behind a flap)
4: Unscrew the filter anti-clockwise and pull out
5: Remove any debris from the filter
6: Spin the impeller with your finger to ensure it moves freely
7: Reinsert and tighten filter
8: Plug in appliance and select a wash cycle. Do not put on a rinse, spin or pump out only cycle as this will not reset the pressure switch to empty (only applies to certain models)

I have a Haier HWD1600 washer dryer combo that I am getting an error 2 on. It will not drain the water out and I have not been able to clear it for the past two months

Its a common error,
Error message:Drain error, water can be not drained fully within the required drain time
Reason 1. Pump filter is blocked.
Solution 1. Please open and clean the pump filter. (Filter access door is on the bottom right, at floor level of the washing machine)
Step 1.Push a flat blade screwdriver into the slot on the filter cover and pull it open ,do not use excessive force.(Fig 1).
Step 2.Remove the rubber hose from its clip and stand a suitable container under it, remove the bung to drain the water (Fig 2-3)
Step 3.Replace the bung and fit it back into its clip (Fig 4-5).
Step 4. Unscrew the filter and rinse it under running water, replace it and close the flap(Fig 6-7-8).
Caution:
1. The filter must be in place during operation, ensure it is in place after cleaning to avoid leakage.
2.Place a container under the drain pump filter, to collect any excess water that may come out of the drain pump when the filter is removed.

Reason 2. Drain hose end is higher than 100cm above the floor level.
Solution 2. Please adjust the height of drain hose to 80-100cm above the floor.

Reason 3. Drain hose is blocked or twisted.
Solution 3. Please check and clean the drain hose for blockage.

Reason 4. Drain hose is too long, or water is back filling from waste water pipes.
Solution 4. Remove any extension to the original drain hose.
Ensure the highest part of the drain hose is nearest the washing machine.Check the waste water pipes in the building are clear of any obstructions and flow freely.

my washing machine wont spin

Hi if your Beko Wm & Wma Models washing machine wont drain or has a spin problem then you have to check the carbon brushes first.

Also check all waste pipes are clear and inspect the pump I have included this video below.

At our website I am doing self diagnostic videos on these beko's as we speak so all tutorials will be in this link below
How to replace Beko Washing Machine Motor Carbon Brushes
you might find this test video helpful but only do it if you have checked the motor

Kenmore washing machine 2 year old is now flooding my floor every 20 loads happiend 4 times. Please help.

Is the water flooding coming from the top of the washing machine?
Check the drain pipe in the back to see that it's not loose. Also, look inside the drain pipe and make sure there is no algae. Algae might cause low flow through the drain pipe and it will overflow.

Hope this helps.

how to unblock a dyson dc24 instructions

Hi Janice,

If you're concerned your DC24 may have a blockage, please follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

You may also want to wash the filters if you haven't done so already. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing them - you may find the video below useful when doing this.

If you'd like any further assistance with your machine, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

wixl123 does not drain after washing ?

Drainage problems can be caused by:
a) Blocked Filter chamber
b) Blocked Sump
c) Blocked Drain Pipe

d) Blocked waste pipe
e) Failed Pump

You can check the sump and drain pipe are not blocked by disconnecting the drain pipe from the undersink trap or waste pipe and lowering to a bowl on the floor. The water should drain out into this bowl under gravity if there are no blockages. Bear in mind if you have disconnected the drain pipe from an undersink pipe if youpour the drained water down the sink it will flood into your undersink cupboard. If this drains then you check the waste pipe or undersink trap is clear. You should also check the filter chamber if it is accessible on your washing machine (not all are). I would recommend you unplug the machine or take the fuse out of the switched socket before doing this. Drain the drum as above before doing this or you will get a gush of water coming out. You will usually have to remove a cover from the bottom of your machine to get to the filter chamber and twist it ant-clockwise to unscrew it. Check for any coins buttons etc trapped in there. If there is nothing there check the impeller will turn relatively easily by hand. If you still can't find the problem you might have a faield pump and I would recommend contacting an enginee
