Tip & How-To about Frigidaire Washing Machines

FRIDGIDAIRE FRONT LOAD WASHER DOOR LOCK

THIS FRONT LOAD WASHER HAS AN ELECTRONIC SWITCH THAT SNAPS INTO THE LOCK MECHANISM. MINE POPPED OUT OF THE 2 CLIPS THAT HELD IT IN PLACE, SO WHEN I CLOSED THE DOOR, THE LOCK LIGHT DID NOT LIGHT AND THE DOOR DID NOT LOCK. HAD ALL KINDS OF ADVICE THAT DIDN'T WORK. UNPLUG THE WASHER, REMOVE O RING AROUND RUBBER BOOT. REMOVE THE FRONT PART OF THE BOOT. THEN YOU JUST REMOVE THE LOCK MECHANISMS, 2 SCREWS IN THE FRONT. PULL THE LOCK MECHANISM HOUSING TO THE SIDE, BE CAREFUL OF THE CONNECTED WIRES, THEN LOOK WITH A FLASHLIGHT. IF THE SMALL SWITCH BOX IS OUT OF PLACE, THEN POP IT BACK IN. THIS PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I WAS CLOSING THE DOOR TOO HARD AND QUICKLY. SO BE GENTLE WHEN CLOSING YOUR DOOR. THE ARM THAT LIFTS TO HIT THE SWITCH THAT TURNS THE DOOR LOCK LIGHT ON AND LOCKS THE DOOR, IS PLASTIC.

I was trying to fix the door lock problem myself on my Whirlpool Duet Washer GHW9150PWO and I pushed the door lock mechanism down with a screw driver and it locked into place. Of course the door won't close now. Can you please tell me if there is a way to get this mechanism to release without having to have a repair service come out? Thank you.

Did the screw driver make it out? UNPLUG THE WASHER There are 2 screws at the top of the washer that hold the top cover on. remove the screws and SLIDE the top cover back off the washer. This should expose the door lock assembly, down the right side of the door. There is 1 or 2 screws that need removed and then there is enough wiring that you should be able to pulll the switch where you can work on it.

Now here's the hard part. What probably happened was that the actuator was popped out of its cradle, possibly losing its spring tension. There are clips on on half of the plastic covers(2 halves snapped together). VERY carefully separate the assembly watching for a loose or shooting spring popping out of the covers. If the spring is still on the acauator arm, and hooked in place, good. carefully put the arm back in its cradle. hopefully it snaps in so reassembly is MUCH easier. Simply snap th e assembly back to gether. test the arm with your screw driver to make sure it is springy. Re install the lock where you removed it from the door area. Good Luck.

I need to get to the electric window wiring on the drivers side. Can I just pop up the mechanism on the door?

Yes you can, but you need a flat tool like a "V" end shaped screwdriver because this has locking prongs under the front of mechanism(windshield side).

gently lift up on electric panel on the front side(windshield) use the tool or similar(2 small flatheads will work) between panel and door push in lock clips(front toward back---under electric panel) the panel should come out of the door holder frame to access the wiring connector under it---the electric panel removal and installs from back to front and snaps in place with locking front clips to door panel.

washer won't turn on, code FdL appears in timer window, GHW9250M

Hi. this is a Door lock mechanism error. here is a description of the code and troubleshooting tips below.

Door lock error

A Door Lock Error occurs if the door cannot be locked. It will try to lock it 6 times before displaying the error.

Potential Causes

• Door Lock Mechanism broken or removed from the Door
• Check Door Lock/Switch Assembly
• Check the wire harness connections to the Door Lock/Switch Assembly and Central Control Unit (CCU)
• Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure

You may need to replace the door lock mechanism if the wire harness checks out OK. Now, if the wires are connected well and the door lock mechanism if working, this could be a more serious issue concerning the Control board.

You can test the door lock mech by using a volt neelde or multimeter as well. use the connector clips for testing the proer voltage.

Please rate and god bless:)
