Regarding canned food, its main benefit is that it contains a lot of protein, which is the main source of energy for cats. Lack of protein and the cat will quickly begin to lose weight and its immune system will be weaker. Another benefit is that contains a large amount of water, keeping the cat dehydrated. The cons of canned cat food are that they are expensive, have to be refrigerated once opened, have a short life time, and can easily leave a mess.
