Tip & How-To about Bose Car Audio & Video

Basic Vehicle Stereo Wiring

To do it right make sure you buy a wiring adapter so you don't have to cut your factory wiring plug off.

Below is a wiring picture. Not all the wires in be required to hook up because some vehicles don't use them.

Blue/White (Remote Turn on): Used if sub woofer and amp system is being installed

Orange (illumination): Not every vehicle has this .. This is used to dim the radio when the head lights get turned on its own.

Blue (Power Antenna): Only used if you have one

Sometimes there are extra wires on the deck for steering wheel or remote volume control.

Might be able to get an adaptor that plugs straight in painlessly.
Failing that it's the standard trace and identify method that eats time like crazy.

I'm trying to install an aftermarket cd player in my 97 explorer when I wiring in the new deck to the speakers they don't no sound comes through the stock speakers is there an app I need to find?

you can buy an adapter the plugs into the factory wiring and the new radio so you don`t cut and butcher the wiring of the car. it covers the wiring for the speakers as well. going by your photo this looks like a bad wiring and splice job.

I have a 1997 Aerostar and would like to wire for trailer lights. I opened the panel on the left side just in front of the tail lights and found a couple wiring receptacles. Are these for trailer wiring? Thanks, Rick

if they have color coded wires that are brown, green, yellow and black then its possible.but i don`t think so.you can buy a trailer wire adapter that just plugs into the car factory wiring so you don`t have to splice(solder) the wires into the car wiring and it will show you the area for the connection and picture.if you don`t want to go that route then the tail light wires colors are brown.the left signal color is yellow and the right is green and the ground wire on the car is black but on the trailer wire harness it is white.
