If you put in batteries and the unit turned on, then you should get a signal to the TV. Some TVs use a certain channel (like 3 or 4) and some have a tv/video button on the set or on the remote - but if you checked that out already you just might have a broken toy. : (

My son has a year old Vtech laptop and I can no longer get sound from it. Have replaced batteries but that has not solved the problem. Can anyone help?
