When someone calls, the machine
usually this kind of problem arises when the memory on which the messages are being stored is either corrupt or filled up. In such situations it is best for you to try and delete previous messages which have been stored on the unit. If there are no previous messages then apparently it is the memory which is bad. Although the battery could also be low and therefore cause these kind of problems but since you said the batteries are in then i am sure you trust the integrity of the batteries.
To sort out the bad memory problem you have to send the unit to the local dealer to get you a repairer to either try and format the memory stick or if need be replace it.

I have the phonemate 2970
1. Remove the AC adapter plug from the back of the base unit (not from the wall); leave tel cord connected.
2. While holding down the "set code" button under the cassette lid, plug the ac adapter back into the base. The screen will then display some numbers (110) etc.
3. Hold down the HANDSET keys 1 and 2 simultaneously and then press the speaker button on top within 20 seconds.
4. Press any 3 digits on the handset i.e. 1-2-3.
5. After hearing a BEEP from the handset and base, press 2 on the handset. The base should then say "twenty-five", and the handsets will beep, confirming the new security code is enabled. Press talk or speaker on handset to confirm communication.
6. The time/day stamp and remote access code will be cleared.
7. Best to do this with the answering mach turned off.
8. Restart this procedure if anything goes wrong (may hear a series of error beeps).
I saved my manual and in it I had a fax Casio sent me with these instructions (i had this prob a few times years ago). Good luck!
The one hole outgoing message tape will it work on a 4200 and a 4300 Casio phonemate answer machine?
To determine if the one-hole outgoing message tape will work on your Casio Phonemate models 4200 and 4300, I recommend the following steps:
- Check User Manual: Consult the user manual or documentation for your Casio Phonemate models. Look for information about compatible tape formats, sizes, and specifications. The manual may provide guidance on the type of tape that can be used for outgoing messages.
- Contact Customer Support: Reach out to Casio customer support or the manufacturer's official website for information about tape compatibility for the models 4200 and 4300. They should be able to provide specific details about compatible tape types.
- Trial and Testing: If you have access to the one-hole outgoing message tape, you could try testing it on the models 4200 and 4300 to see if it functions correctly. Make sure to follow any installation instructions provided in the user manual.
- Seek Expert Advice: If you're unsure about compatibility or encounter any issues, consider seeking advice from experts who specialize in telecommunication equipment or the specific Casio Phonemate models.
