I have netgear N300 model number WN3000RPv3 serial number too small to read. I set it up but ran into problem and had to start over. Problem is it did not record my password. I need help.

Most routers have a small hole in the case that has a reset button just inside it. Use an extended ballpoint pen or a straightened out paper clip and push and hold the button in for about 10 seconds. That should reset the router to its store bought configuration. Note: some routers require that you hold in the reset button while you turn off and then back on the unit for it to reset. Hope this helps.

Keith, try another channel. Often times default channel on the router interferes with other devices in the environment, even up to 1/2 mile away. Channel change almost always solves it.

Why did the router ID change when I linked it via the Wps button to the DSTV wifi gadget ?

Here's and excerpt from the Netgear WNR2000 user manual explaining that this is normal behavior for Netgear routers that support WPS..:
  • Keep Existing Wireless Settings. This check box is automatically selected after WPS is enabled to prevent unwanted settings changes, and is also selected if you have already specified wireless security settings or your SSID without using WPS. When this check box is not selected, adding a new wireless client using the push button or the Add WPS Client screen (see "Push Button Configuration" on page 2-14) changes the router's SSID and security passphrase. You might need to clear it if you are using certain registrars, such as for a Windows Vista PC, to configure the router through WPS.
Even if your router is not a WNR2000, it is likely that the configuration interface pretty much the same so you might be helped by looking at Chapter 2 page 17 in the WNR2000 manual here..: Or else, go to Netgear support (NETGEAR Support Welcome), select Wi-Fi routers and download/display the user manual pdf and search it for "disable router's pin" or "keep existing wireless settings" and verify/change the setting so the router doesn't make changes when you use the WPS button.

Hello I am trying to to install my new 7550 Netgear router but I cannot access this ip addresses 192.168.254.254. Please help I cannot access this pos lol Thanks Miles

this may be a bit technical ,but stay with me , the address your trying to access is in a different subnet (security reason) the machine your using to access this router has to be in a Ip range of 192.168.254.0 to 192.168.254.253r it will not be able to "see" the device this address is typically used for router config as its not a common used number and so it's unlikely to have any conflicts, however after you config the router , both it and the machines on its network should be set to something in the range of 192.168.1.01 to 192.168.2.254 as this is a more typical range of numbers to use on a small network and should help to eliminate any future config problems as new devices are added in the future

Does the net gear 98 work with chrome cast

If this is a wireless router, your chrome cast device should pick up the signal if within reach. Make sure there is power to the chrome cast. Be sure the router is emitting Wi-Fi signal (test with a tablet or smart phone to make sure). Power cycle both devices (turn off-unplug-wait five minutes-reconnect and switch on) then attempt connection once again.
