When I connect to my FTP site, I use ftp://thenameofit.com I do not need to put the port in. Perhaps you can try something like that. I'm using Windows 10, and satellite internet. I have had 3 different satellite providers, and none allow me to open ports. So possibly you do not need to do it, either.

Open the Chrome and clear cache and browsing data options, Ctrl + Shift + Delete. Open a new window in Incognito mode, Ctrl + Shift + n, check for unwanted extensions enabled and check for chrome updates (settings - > help -> check for updates)

Uninstall Windows 8 using the Boot Option in msconfig.

1. Type msconfig in start search and hit Enter.

2. System Configuration box will open up. Navigate to the Boot Tab and select Windows Developer Preview. Next click on Delete.

3. Click on Apply button and then finally click on OK.

4. Now, you just have to format the partition where you had installed Windows 8 Developer Preview and then you can get your disk space back. To do so, Open Computer folder and right-click the drive on which it has been installed. Select Format.

IE 8 is getting on in years and is less than fully functional with lots of sites and some completely reject it. If your operating system will support a later IE you should install a later version.
