IE 8 is getting on in years and is less than fully functional with lots of sites and some completely reject it. If your operating system will support a later IE you should install a later version. I suggest you go to the control panel and select add or remove programmes and then uninstall your old IE 8 and any other programmes you no longer use and then carry out a system scan with your anti-virus and Spy-bot if you have it. It is difficult to download a new browser without having a functional browser already but you should be able to download a browser on a friend's computer and burn to a cd or store on memory stick to install on your machine.
