How to add a product to Fixya that is not yet cataloged

"Add your Product" Feature can help you speed up the posting questions process and viewing issues to products similar to yours. Once you add a product by choosing it from the drop down list, you will be able to view all questions regarding this product. You will also be able to follow up on your own questions. Adding your products is entirely optional, if you do not wish to do so you may skip this part. If you can't find your product on the list, please post your problem using the Ask box on the top of the page and follow the on screen instructions. When you are asked to categorize your question and choose a product, please choose the closest category (if you can't find a specific product). For example: If you have a 123xyz Samsung refrigerator but you can't find this specific model in the drop down list, please choose Samsung Refrigerators. Your question will still be visible to all the relevant experts. Please make sure that you add as many details to your question and include the model & brand. The more details, the easier it will be for the expert to assist and this is highly important regarding questions under a general category. I asked a question on fixya and received a comment

Hi Kay, To reply to a comment, just visit your problem page and you should see the comment you received. Below that comment there is an input that reads add a comment. If you need help finding your original post, just click on your avatar in the top right after signing in and click the "My Account" link that appears in the dropdown. On the my account page, scroll down to the My Problems section to see all the problems you've posted. I have been asked to help solve fixya problems but many questions seem written so the problem cannot be understood, how can I help 'clean up' some questions?

If you are familiar with the expert levels on Fixya you will be happy to know that some of the functionality you are asking about is already available on the website. What are the legal characters to ask a question on fixya?

Legal characters are characters which are accepted when posting on the Fixya website. If you are receiving an error about illegal characters it means you are using characters found on the keyboard (such as symbols) that Fixya does not accept. This can sometimes be caused when copy/pasting from word processing software which can insert incorrect commas, apostrophes, or even hidden characters. Make sure to type your question directly into the box and make sure to try and avoid strange symbols or characters. How will i know that somebody has answered my question or not? And even when somebody has answered it, how will I know the answer?

If someone answers your question, you will be notified in a few different ways.
  1. Email Notification You will receive an email that will let you know you have a new answer and can view the answer provided in the email.
  2. Site Notification When returning to Fixya you will see a notice at the top of the screen that will alert on whatever page you arrive to let you that a new answer is available.
  3. Homepage Notice When you sign in you will also see a new listing under All Activity on the homepage.

How to be a Premuim Expert on Fixya ?

Change profile picture on fixya

Hi Laura, You can change your profile photo by first signing into Fixya and then clicking your avatar in the top right corner of the page. Select the My Account link in the dropdown that appears. On the My Account page scroll down to the My Settings section of the page and click the upload button below the avatars displayed. 696b31fa-f2e8-4c75-bba9-ed02d14b2686.png In the popup that appears select the file from your computer that you would like to use as your photo. After selecting the file you should see the image in a large box. You can then crop the photo and you should see the thumbnail next to the larger image. How to earn more score and what is score how do u earn it

Each question or problem posted on FixYa earns the person who provides a solution from 1 to 3 points. Based on the time in which a question receives an answer and the level of the expert who answered it, a different amount of points are awarded.The Expert Leaderboard displays the Top Ten Experts of the current week. This competition runs from midnight on Monday to midnight on Sunday GMT. Experts are ranked based upon their score. An Expert's score is simply the number of points he has earned that week. Points are earned by solving problems, receiving positive ratings, and answering questions in a timely manner to earn 3 point solutions. The ten Experts with the highest score that week will be shown on the leaderboard. The Expert with the highest score that week will earn a Top Expert achievement badge to wear on their profile.
