Why does light blink off and on when set at dusk/dawn

If lights blink on-off, then red wire is connected where blue wire should be.Red wire should be capped, and not used when timer is used for single pole operation.OR connect red wire and blue wire together if you want Dawn-to-dusk operation instead of dusk-to-dawnOpen following link and scroll down to bottom for wiring diagrams.http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/gene_9f0ef4df2f9897e7

Utilitech Wall Timer #0192773 does not switch

Old timer: Intermatic EJ500 & ST01C timers have a battery. Battery operates the clock motor. Red wire is for 3-way circuit [a hallway with 2 switches is a 3-way circuit].

Utilitec timer, clock runs on 120Volt circuit instead of battery. So clock has to have power.

How to connect wires:
Black timer wire connects to hot wire from breaker box.
Red (or blue) timer wire goes to landscape lights.
White timer wire connects to white neutral wire [or if no neutral is available, connect to bare ground wire].
Green timer wire goes to bare ground wire.

How to find black hot wire and white neutral wire inside box
: Disconnect and separate wires so you can test. Use ordinary tester. Power is on. There is only 1 black hot wire inside each electrical box. Test each black wire to bare ground until tester light comes on > that identifies the black hot wire. Next, test black hot wire to white wires until tester light comes on > that is the neutral wire. Exception: This test does not necessarily work with 3-way switches since they reverse each time switch is thrown.

How do you wire a digital in-wall timer to a 3-way

First, the timer has to rated for 3-way application. Not every timer works for 3-way.Open following link for some timers that work for 3-way application.http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15071Next thing is to read instruction manual carefully.Since 3-way switches come in pairs, the timer replaces one of the switches, and then the other switch remains. Some timers can replace either switch, and some timers can only replace the switch that receives hot from breaker. In all cases, the remaining 3-way switch must be rewired to accommodate how the timer works.

It does not turn off why

Unknown if this is new ST01C timer, or older timer that worked before and stopped working.Add a comment with more information if needed.Timer can be defective. Battery can be low. Wiring is wrong. Timer programming has overlaps and conflicts. Program 1 is set but program 2 is not set. No programming is set. Short circuit on lights.I suggest change battery and reset timer, then reprogram timer.Write out schedule beforehand to avoid conflicts and overlaps.Program 1 is ON and program 2 is OFF. Program 3 is ON and program 4 is OFF. etc.Open following link for re-set and programming illustrations, plus battery replacement and wiring diagrams:http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html

SunSmart 15312 - timer has

Sun Smart is new GE timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15312

There is no repair for defective timer, except buy another at Home Depot and return defect in new package.
When I bought 15312 timer for testing, I found many packages at Home Depot were taped together as if people returned the timer. The large aluminum fin shows that timer is expected to get warm.
When testing the timer, the door stuck, and the timer seemed cheaply made. Intermatic brand timers are more robust at this time.
The instruction manual is not clearly written as could be, and timer requires a lot of button pushes for each setting.

Because the instruction manual is complex, requiring multiple button pushes for each setting, I suggest writing out the steps to make sure nothing is skipped over.

If lights turn on-off with override, then timer should be wired correctly.
Be sure to reset timer before programming.
Press setup button twice to begin programming.
Check programming for conflicts and overlaps that will cause timer not to function as expected.
For example selecting days of week. If program1 ON says turn on at 7:00 pm all days of week, and program1 OFF says off at 9:00 pm Tuesday.
Another point of confusion is Dawn-Dusk-Time. If you want timer to turn ON at 7:00, then select Time.
