Well first off is the compressor running? When you turn on the unit the fan will start. Turn the unit on to fan only. Then turn it into the cooling mode do you hear something else start? That would be the compressor. Remove the front panel so you can see the cooling coil (evaporator ) if it is freezing and has frost on just part of the coil top or bottom you have lost Freon or a system restriction.. One of the major problems with air cons is a very dirty or plugged condenser coil, which is the outside coil. If you have cotton wood trees in your area this is probably the problem. mcdevito75 here, The portion of the a/c unit that goes outside the window is the evaporator and suppose to leak water, check the drain hole in the unit floor on the outside portion of the unit, reach this drain hole thru another window or have your local a/c repair shop look at it, they come to the house.

Hi, It could be that the motor for the device needs to "warm up". Everytime it stops the internal thermostat sees that the target temperature has not been reached so it starts the internal motor again. This happens in a cycle until the motor gets warmed up or the target temperature is reached. This is my hypothesis. So, you might need to get the devices's motor checked out. Thank you.

Either the new control board is faulty, or the connections are bad, or the issue is somewhere else. The main problem is that you are not an air conditioning / heating engineer. Some things are not home owner fixable.

You can turn off the Thermostat, and the powers switch on the furnance and turn the breaker off in the breaker box wait about 20 - 30 minutes and turn the breaker back on, and the power to the furance back on and the thermostat, this should reset the system.
